LINKIN PARK Old-school hip-hop, traditional classic rock, and spooling electronic vibes were the initial factors behind the building of the alternative metal quintet, Linkin Park. The
band's southern Californian musical roots were also an underlying basis, for drummer Rob Bourdon, guitarist Brad Delson, and MC/vocalist Mike Shinoda formed a tight friendship while still in high school. Shortly after graduation, art student and DJ Joseph Hahn hooked up with bassist Dave "Phoenix" Farrell and Shinoda for the band, Xero. Hybrid Theory came later, but the band opted on the name Linkin Park when singer Chester Bennington was the last piece added to the band in 1999. Soon the band became a noticeable face at the Whisky as well as favorites in and around Los Angeles. Zomba Music's Jeff Blue was one of the few who didn't turn the band down for a contract at the turn of the millennium - Linkin Park signed to Warner Bros. after being turned down three times in late 1999 and got to work on their debut album. Taking a piece from their past, they named the album Hybrid Theory. It was released in fall 2000 and it showcased their likes for fellow alternative acts such as the Deftones, the Roots, Aphex Twin, and Nine Inch Nails. The Dust Brothers also collaborated on the record, as well as producer Don Gilmore (Pearl Jam, Eve 6, Tracy Bonham). Singles such as "Crawling" and "One Step Closer" were massive radio hits and video favorites among the TRL crowd on MTV. Joint tours with Family Values and the Project: Revolution Tour with Cypress Hill led the band to play 324 shows in 2001. Linkin Park was in demand. Come January 2002, Hybrid Theory received three Grammy nominations for "Best Rock Album" and "Best New Artist." A month later, Linkin Park walked away with an award for "Best Hard Rock Performance" for "Crawling." They spent the remainder of the year hold up in the studio, again working with Gillmore, recording a follow-up to their eight times platinum debut Hybrid Theory.
Linkin Park's sophomore effort Meteora was released in March 2003; the first single "Somewhere I Belong" was an instant hit. The second annual Projekt Revolution tour got underway in spring 2003 with Linkin Park joining Mudvayne, Xzibit and Blindside; Summer Sanitarium dates with Metallica, Limp Bizkit, Mudvayne and the Deftones followed in July and August. Results of the latter appeared by the end of the year on Live in Texas. In late 2004, Linkin Park embarked on their most ambitious project yet: Collision Course, a collaboration with king-of-the-mountain rapper Jay-Z which introduced the commercial world to the concept of mash-ups (remixes that sample heavily from at least two popular songs). ~ MacKenzie Wilson, All Music Guide

Boom! Here comes the Boom! Ready or not, here comes the boys from the South.
P.O.D. have exploded to the stratosphere with their finest work to date, the extraordinary "SATELLITE." A high-decibel blast of potent cross-cultural power rock, the San Diego-based quartet's second Atlantic Records release is at turns joyful, provocative, challenging, and utterly real. Co-produced by the band with Howard Benson (the man behind the board for P.O.D.'s RIAA platinum certified label debut, 1999's "THE FUNDAMENTAL ELEMENTS OF SOUTHTOWN", tracks like the fervent first single, "Alive" or the emotionally charged "Youth of the Nation" find P.O.D. relentlessly reaching heavenward to evoke a sense of positive vibrations unique to today's rock n' roll.
"All the great rock bands were always driven by passion and emotion," says Marcos, the band's versatile guitarist, "whether it's a negative passion and emotion or a positive passion and emotion. And for us, a lot of the rock that's out today - and I'm not saying any names - a lot of it's devoid of any type of emotion. It's all processed and done up in the studio. But to us, we always put all of our love and everything that we have into our music."
"SATELLITE" was recorded at Bay 7 Recording Studio in Sherman Oaks, and Image Studios in Los Angeles over a three-month period in spring 2001. With Benson and longtime Metallica engineer Randy Staub at the helm, P.O.D. recorded nearly 20 new songs. The sessions saw the four musicians stretching out into the band they'd always envisioned themselves as being, a truly free rock unit incorporating an infinite variety of textures and styles - from reggae to rock, hip-hop to hardcore - into an already genre-blurring sonic arsenal.
"There's not really a word that can describe P.O.D.," says Marcos. "If you were to go to each one of our homes and look at our CD collections, you would see everything from metal to punk to jazz to reggae, you name it. Everything. Except maybe country, but other than that, we have it all."
"If it feels good, it feels good," notes Traa. "That's a P.O.D. rule. When I came to the band, I was very stubborn about what I wanted to play, but being with these guys opened me up to a lot of different music. And the most important thing with music is how does it make you feel? Not whether you like it or don't like it. If you feel good listening to something, then it's a good song. If you don't, then it's not."
The notion that rock n' roll is meant to move and inspire is prevalent on "SATELLITE," especially on such tracks as the style-jumping "Ghetto" and the exultant anthem, "Alive."
"We didn't have a name for it yet," says Sonny of the latter song's genesis, "but we were calling it 'Beautiful' because it made us feel beautiful. And that drove the direction of the lyrical content, because we wanted people to go, 'Hey, this makes me feel good.' We recorded the chorus I don't know how many times, because it was like, 'Let's take it up a notch. Let's take it higher.'"
The lyrical content throughout "SATELLITE" - often poignant, often powerful, always passionate - deals with the band's outspoken belief in expressions of spiritual adventure and affirmation. A number of songs, including the Mexicali-tinted "Thinking About Forever" and the heartbreaking title track, were inspired by the death of Sonny's mother.
'Satellite' is about that person, that thing in the sky watching out for you," he explains. "Most people who lose somebody have that notion, that they're out there looking out for you, watching your back."
Perhaps the most powerful song on "SATELLITE" is "Youth of the Nation." The track is the band's raw, wrenching response to the recent plague of school violence.
"We had done a show for some kids that went to Columbine," says Sonny, "they wanted P.O.D. to play, just for a positive encouragement type thing. And it was always in the back of our minds, like, just what are these kids going through? This is the hardest time for kids."
"It's always been a topic on tour," Marcos adds. "I don't want to say it inspired us, but it gave us the motivation to write something. Well, when we were writing this record, we wanted to be secluded so we went to Santee, in East San Diego, where we had this 35x35 rehearsal studio. One day we were on our way to practice, and we saw all these cops, but we didn't know what was going on. Later we found out what had happened."
What had happened was tragic - on March 5th, a 15-year-old freshman at Santee's Santana High School drew a .22-caliber handgun and began shooting, killing two and wounding 13.
"We were in the studio," Traa recalls, "we started jamming, and some eerie guitar notes started coming out, these dark drum beats鱅t just came together naturally, once again. We just told Sonny, 'Man, dig deep and write a story.'"
"It was an emotional situation," Marcos says, "the main control room in the studio has a TV, and we're watching the news on there, thinking, "Man, this is a mess.' I'm the only one that doesn't have kids, but everybody was like, 'Dude, that could have been my kids in there,' or 'That could have been my sister.'"
"SATELLITE" also sees P.O.D. joined in the studio by two of their heroes. Renowned Jamaican toaster Eek-A-Mouse appears on the cool-running "Ridiculous," while "Without Jah, Nothin" features the freestyle vocal pronouncements of the prodigiously talented - and notoriously eccentric - HR of the Bad Brains, long acknowledged as P.O.D.'s all-time favorite band.
"You don't know if HR's crazy or what," he adds, laughing. "He walked into the studio with a birdcage with two parakeets in it, but I don't know exactly what that was about. I started hearing this chirping and I was like, 'Where'd those birds come from? 'Those are HR's birds.' I was like, 'Alright'"
"Very few bands today have any respect for the past," Marcos notes of P.O.D.'s collaborations with their musical predecessors, "and how can you conquer the future if you don't know anything about the past? As a band, we respect the past, from soul to punk, anything you can think of that had emotion, we respect that. And there's a lot of elements that we've taken from those people and brought into our music that a lot of bands today don't even care about."
P.O.D. have long been passing knowledge onto their legion of devoted fans, known as The Warriors. This fiercely loyal grassroots following drove the 1999 single/video "Rock The Party (Off The Hook)" to the top spot on MTV's Total Request Live - making P.O.D. the third-ever rock band to reach the #1 position in TRL history, with Korn and Limp Bizkit. The reason for the Warriors' passion is simple - P.O.D. are the real deal, a true-to-the-bone rock n' roll band whose heart and soul are always front and center.
"We don't come with a gimmick," Wuv says proudly. "We're regular people just kicking it. We're just telling you our story."
"We do what we know is right for us," Sonny affirms. "And that's it. We don't go out there and give a sermon when we get on stage, we don't shove anything down anybody's throat. But we sing about what's real in our life. And that's the bottom line."
The men of P.O.D. grew up in the city of San Ysidro - a.k.a. "Southtown," a diverse community down near the California/Tijuana border. In 1992, the versatile drum-playing Wuv invited his hip-hop devotee cousin Sonny to take the mic in a fledgling hardcore combo he'd started with his guitarist friend, Marcos. With the addition the following year of the Cleveland-born Traa on funk-driven bass, P.O.D. was complete. They blew up stages with punk heroes like Green Day, Pennywise, and the Vandals, in venues ranging from skate parks to YMCAs, selling over 40,000 copies of four independent CDs on their own Rescue Records label before inking with Atlantic in 1998.
Powered by the success of the singles, "Southtown" and "Rock The Party (Off The Hook)," "THE FUNDAMENTAL ELEMENTS OF SOUTHTOWN" hit #1 on Billboard's Heatseekers chart, going on to reap RIAA platinum certification. The critically acclaimed album was acknowledged as the San Diego Music Awards' 1999 "Album of the Year," with "Song of the Year" honors going to "Rock The Party (Off The Hook)," and P.O.D. taking home the "Best Hard Rock or Metal Group" trophy for the second consecutiveyear. In addition, the band were included among Rolling Stone's annual "People of the Year" for 2000.
True to their hardcore roots, P.O.D. remain one of the hardest working bands in America, spending more than half the year on the road, playing largely to all-ages crowds at county parks, coffeehouses, colleges, and coliseums. They were main stage sensations on Ozzfest 2000, they toured alongside Staind and Crazy Town as part of 2000's MTV Return Of The Rock Tour, and in recent years have shared stages with Kid Rock, Linkin Park, Primus, Sevendust, and Korn.
The band's Rick Rubin-produced "School of Hard Knocks" was the first single/video from 2000's Adam Sandler comedy, Little Nicky. P.O.D. tracks have appeared on the soundtracks to such films as Any Given Sunday, and Ready To Rumble. They've also made appearances on a number of high-profile TV shows, including NBC's The Tonight Show With Jay Leno, The Howard Stern Radio Show, and Farmclub.com, plus MTV's 120 Minutes, The Return of the Rock, and Rock N' Jock Bowling. In addition, Sonny has guested on ABC's Politically Incorrect With Bill Maher.
"We're trying to be universal," Marcos says. "If we can get your grandma listening to us, if we can get the little three-year-old kid listening, then it's done. What is your purpose as a musician? You're playing an instrument so that people can hear you, man. Why do you play live? To be seen. And for your music be heard. If not, why in the heck are you playing guitar?"

CRADLE OF FILTH Official Biography... The cradle is rocking, the dead are rising, the seas will boil and the skies will fall. As the world stands poised on the edge of mass destruction, the freaks, fools and monsters who rule us are about to be taught a real lesson in the use of power, for Cradle of Filth have created the greatest album of their career to date. 'Damnation and a Day', has been carved out of the darkness that is about to engulf what we know as civilisation.
The recordings, spawned from the loins of five of the most controversial Lords of darkness ever to walk the earth grew to their full strength at Parkgate, a studio set in the blood-soaked town of Battle, set in darkest Hastings. Inspired by their surroundings, the five Horsemen of the Apocalypse fed on the blood of Doug Cook who was unwittingly drafted in to co-produce and engineer the album. Little did he know that he was merely a victim.
Cradle sucked the knowledge out of their hapless victim and used his withered shell of a body to help direct them in their quest to create the darkest album they could possibly imagine, before disposing of his corpse in a ritualistic shooting. The bullet still lays lodged in his face. The corpse of course has never been found.
But the blood letting did not stop there. Daniel Presley, was hung, drawn and quavered after scoring the final pages of music for the live orchestra.
The death toll now standing at 10 (that's including the rest of the staff at Parkgate, who died slowly over the five months of recording), Cradle still weren't satiated, so a week spent in Budapest saw the death toll rise to 82 as they massacred the 40 piece orchestra and the 32 piece choir.
Hungary has once again fallen under the shadow of evil. Elzabeth Bathory will pale into comparison when this news gets out.
'Damnation and a Day' was scripted by the prince of darkness Dani Filth, whose quest to decipher the truth behind the Bible, brought him to summon forth Lucifer during a ritualistic killing. The once expelled angel willingly gave his side of the story from beginning to what will be the inevitable end for us. You will bear witness to his tale, during the 17 tracks of the concept album 'Damnation and a Day' which lies before you. Your death is nigh, so listen carefully and then offer your soul to the Filth and you might be saved, deny them and your destruction will come in many forms.
They will choose it, they will watch it and they will undoubtedly laugh in your tortured face.
The sonic soundscape that encapsulates the satanic readings were finely crafted from the cries that resonate from the depths of Hades by lords Dani, Paul, Martin, Adrian and Dave. The final stage was the mix. The two disciples known as Rob Caggiano and Steve Regina were called upon to aid the dark lords in their quest, along with the reanimated tortured soul of Doug Cook.
Once you have listened to what is to come, you will bow your heads to one of the finest albums to rise from the cradle.
Sony have now embraced the darkness and under the influence of evil have become slaves to the dark powers that have been engulfing them for over a year, all have committed their souls to spreading the message and will by the March 10th 2003 release unto us the future.
So go forth and cut out the tongues of the unbelievers, lay waste to the trash that assaults our ears every day, for that is merely a smoke screen to numb your minds from the truth, and beg forgiveness for your past sins. For if you don't, you're fucked.
World domination takes apart society as we know it in mid March when the Cradle swings into action and takes to the road to hell, first into Europe and then back to the US to follow up last year's sell out tour. So all the petty little people out there with their bombs and their guns better run away now, because it's show time and they haven't got a hope in hell, even if they do have an access all areas pass.
Cradle of filth have finally arrived at the palace of righteousness, ready to drain the blood from your face and whatever is left of your miserable pathetic carcass.

DIMMU BORGIR Pronounced "dim-moo bore-gear", the Dimmu borgir is a large area of unusually shaped lava fields east of Lake Mývatn, on Iceland. The Dimmuborgir area is composed of various caves and rock formations. It would seem that this has been formed from a lava-lake, out of which molten lava flowed and left behind strange formations. The most famous cave being Kirkjan - the Church - high with a large gothic style vault. Dimmu=foggy/dark, Borgir=castle/fortress.
Dimmu Borgir is a melodic black metal band hailing from Norway. Shagrath, Silenoz and Tjodalv initiated the band in 1993. Shortly after, Brynjard Tristan joined to play bass, and Stian Aarstad joined for keyboard duties. Dimmu Borgir was born. They are a band which success is measured with such bands as Emperor, Kreator and Cradle of Filth. I will without a doubt say that Dimmu Borgir is the best black metal band in the world today (webmaster's comment). Haunting keyboard melodies, aggressive guitar work, destructive drums, grim/raw vocals and a touch of melodic/operatic vocals characterize Dimmu Borgir's sound. They are musically inspired by 80's black metal and heavy metal. Classic composers, like Wagner and Dvorak, also inspire them.
Dimmu Borgir began their career by releasing a 7" EP entitled "Inn I Evighetens Morke" ("Into the Eternity of Darkness" on Necromantic Gallery Productions in 1994. It sold out within a few weeks, marking the start of a successful and magnificent band. Dimmu Borgir existed in the black metal scene for quite some time but did not get the recognition they deserved until late 1994, when they released their debut full length album "For All Tid"--a slow, dark and atmospheric recording--on No Colour Records. The album features contributions by Aldrahn from Dødheimsgard and Vicotnik from Ved Buens Ende. The lineup on their debut album was: Shagrath - Drums & Vocals (Guitar on track 5), Erkekjetter Silenoz - Guitar & Vocals, Tjodalv - Guitar, Brynjard Tristan - Bass, Stian Aarstad - Synthesizers, Piano & Effects.
In 1996 they released one of the most important albums in black metal history, "Stormblåst", on a new label, Cacophonous records. During that time period, this album showed that Dimmu Borgir was one of the better melodic black metal bands. They took a big step forwards, towards the distinctive sound in which Dimmu Borgir is known for today. Mature song writing, with good variance of tempos, a strong classical influence and one of the best black metal sounds out there. "Stormblåst" showed an increase in speed, yet maintained the melody and atmosphere. Lineup on this recording was: Shagrath - Lead Guitar & Vocals, Erkekjetter Silenoz - Rhythm Guitar & Vocals, Tjodalv - Drum & Percussion, Brynjard Tristan - Bass Guitar, Stian Aarstad - Synthesizers & Piano.
For the first two full lengths, Dimmu Borgir wrote their lyrics in Norwegian, however after the release of "Stormblåst", they changed the lyrics into English. The main reason was that the majority of the audience did not understand the lyrics and so Dimmu Borgir wanted use a popular language to communicate their message--to reach a broader audience.
After "Stormblåst", Dimmu Borgir released the "Devil's Path" MCD on Hot Records, in 1996. Shagrath actually worked in Hot records and he was responsible for the signing and promotion of bands. "Devil's Path" is a MCD with 4 songs, and includes a brilliant song entitled "Devil's Path", so it's worth purchasing this release to complete your Dimmu Borgir discography. For the MCD, Nagash, who at that time was in Troll and The Kovenant (previously called Covenant) was recruited to replace Tristan on bass. Stian Aarstad did not perform keyboard duties on this album due to the fact that he had to take care of business regarding the Norwegian army. Line up on this recording was: Shagrath - Guitar, Vocals & Keyboard, Erkekjetter Silenoz - Guitar, Tjodalv - Drums, Nagash - Bass.
In 1997 Dimmu Borgir released their masterpiece "Enthrone Darkness Triumphant"--an engaging, powerful and moving recording. One of the most important black metal releases this century (webmaster's comment). "Enthrone…" marked a move to a bigger label, impeccable production (by the famous Peter Tagtren) and the success of 150,000+ in record sales. Due to these reasons, many have claimed that Dimmu Borgir have sold out. This is not true. The fact is that with this release they have made black metal available for a much broader audience and with their melodic-yet-still-aggressive sound, they became one of the biggest names in black metal. This was a great achievement, and being a hard working, dedicated and persistent band, Dimmu Borgir deserve their high status. "Enthrone…" was released on their new label, Nuclear Blast, after their old record label failed to give their best to promote Dimmu Borgir. If you are curious as to why the lyrics of "Tormentor of Christian Souls" are not include in the booklet is because Nuclear Blast did not want to be responsible for printing them! Line up on this recording was: Shagrath - Guitar & Vocals, Erkekjetter Silenoz - Guitar, Tjodalv - Drums, Nagash - Bass, Stian Aarstad - Synthesizers and piano.
After the recording of "Enthrone…" the band hired Astennu to play guitars during live performances, so Shagrath could fully concentrate on his vocals and stage performance. Astennu replaced Jens Petter who was a member for a short while between "Stormblåst" and "Enthrone…" Astennu is originally from Australia and came to Norway to record his solo project Carpe Tenebrum, which was previously called Lord Kaos. He then played guitar in The Kovenant and after a short time, became aware of his priorities, quit, and is presently a full-time member of Dimmu Borgir. After the "Enthrone…" tour, Dimmu Borgir had a mini-tour where Tjodalv left the band for a few months to be with his family and newborn child. His replacement was Aggressor, filling in as a session drummer, who is currently with Aura Noir. In the "Enthrone…" tour, Stian Aarstad had trouble participating in some of the performances and was fired from the band. Stian Aarstad has now joined the ranks of the Norwegian black metal band Enthral. His replacement was Kimberley Goss, who has previously worked with Therion, Ancient and currently, Sinergy. But after an incredibly brief stay with Dimmu Borgir, Kimberly Goss had to leave the band, due to the fact that she was a session member. Her replacement--on a very short notice--was Mustis, a young keyboard player from Norway and acquaintance of Shagrath since early 1998. He had his first live appearance with Dimmu Borgir at the Dynamo Open Air festival 1998. Mustis has not played in any significant bands previous to Dimmu Borgir, but he has added a new element to the band, and the new sound can be heard on "Spiritual…" Mustis had a heavy influence on this album, considering 60% of Dimmu Borgir songs are created on keyboard first.
A very nice surprise was the re-release of Dimmu Borgir's debut album, "For all Tid", on Nuclear Blast in 1998. This album contains all of the original material and includes two songs from their 7" EP "Inn I Evighetens Morke" ("Into the Eternity of Darkness". In the same year, Dimmu Borgir released a MCD, "Godless Savage Garden", which is also on Nuclear Blast. The album contains 2 new songs, 2 re-releases, one cover and 3 live recordings. This release was only intended to be a "goodie" while the fans were waiting for the new album, "Spiritual…" This MCD was rated so good that it was nominated for "Spellemannsprisen", a Norwegian Grammy, in the metal category. "Godless…" was nominated together with albums from The Kovenant and Mundanus Imperium. The whole show was aired on Norwegian television and Dimmu Borgir played "Grotesquery Concealed" live, from the "Spiritual…" album. The performance was the only highlight of the entire show. Unfortunately Dimmu Borgir did not win the Grammy, but The Kovenant did, for their "Nexus Polaris" album.
The recording of "Spiritual Black Dimensions" once again took place in the infamous Abyss Studios with Peter Tagtren (Hypocrisy, Pain, The Abyss). Dimmu Borgir achieved an outstanding sound, complexly layered and powerfully enchanting. "Phantasmagoria" was the name of the song first performed live at 1998 Dynamo festival. Another song from "Spiritual..." was released on the Beauty in Darkness Vol.3 compilation, on Nuclear Blast, entitled "The Insight And The Catharsis", serving as a teaser before the albums official release.
Released officially on March 1, 1999, by Nuclear Blast, "Spiritual..." took the record stores by storm and proved once again that Dimmu Borgir are the kings of the dark throne. Prior to the release, many have been curious as to what direction the music would take. Those in doubt of Dimmu Borgir's dedication to extreme music were forced to face reality when "Spiritual…" proved to be their most complex and extreme album to date. After this recording Nagash decided to quit Dimmu Borgir to concentrate fully on The Kovenant. The temporary replacement, Simen Hestnaes (also known as I.C.S. Vortex) from Borknagar contributed to this recording with clean and operatic style vocals. He is also the session bassist on the "Spiritual…" tour 1999. In late 1999 Simen became (as I think everybody hoped for) the permanent replacement on bass and full member of Dimmu Borgir. The line up on this recording was: Shagrath - Vocals, Erkekjetter Silenoz - Guitar, Astennu - Lead Guitar, Tjodalv - Drums & Percussion, Nagash - Bass, Mustis - Synthesizers & Piano.
A month after the release of "Spiritual... ", Dimmu Borgir made a split album with Old Man's Child, titled "Sons of Satan Gather for Attack." Also in the same month Astennu released his side project, Carpe Tenebrum, entitled "Mirrored Hate painting". This project involved vocals from Nagash and contains similar elements as Dimmu Borgir, only faster. Both of these albums were released through Hammerheart Records, and more information is available at the following link: Hammerheart Records
In the early stages of the 1999 Dimmu Borgir tour, right after their crushing gigs in New Jersey and Montreal, Tjodalv decided to leave the band due to musical and personal differences. He has a family to take care of and cannot do the immense touring of Dimmu Borgir. Tjodalv's replacement should be familiar to everyone, it is none other than the godly Nick Barker, former Cradle Of Filth drummer. Nick has recently finished drumming duties with Borknagar on the North American "Kings of Terror Tour". Nick will release a new album with his side project "Lockup", the album is titled "Pleasure paves sewers". The album was recorded in Peter’s Abyss Studio in Sweden and released 22.11.99 by Nuclear Blast.
Dimmu Borgir was about to start the recording of a new album in March 2000 the bandwas booked into Abyss studio with producer Peter Tagtgren to record the yet untitled new album in March and April 2000. This did not happend because they needed more time to finish the new material. They also have had some financial problems that restricted the rehersal time, because Nick still live in England and could not afford to come over to norway as often as he should have.
Further line-up changes took place during the writing period for their new album when the band fired guitarist Astennu due to various personal reasons. Astennu's replacement ended up being a man named Galder (Tom Rune Andersen) the "Mastermind of Old Mans Child" who is known for his brilliant guitar playing in Norwegian black metallers Old Man's Child. With a firm line-up now intact Dimmu Borgir entered Sweden's Fredman Studio (At The Gates, In Flames, Dark Tranquillity) in Fall 2000 to record their highly anticipated new album, Puritanical Euphoric Misanthropia. Once again the band created a masterpiece in aggressive music with outstanding atmosphere and audibly evil songs. The songwriting is at its highest peak making Puritanical Euphoric Misanthropia the band's strongest release to date (proven by such standout tracks as"Blessings Upon The Throne Of Tyranny", "Kings Of The Carnival Creation","The Mealstrom Mephisto" and "Architecture Of A Genocidal Nature".
As an added bonus, the band recorded various tracks with the Gothenburg symphonic orchestra yielding astonishing conclusions sure to turn heads. The end result is nothing short of perfection from the complex guitar work to the dynamic keyboard tinkering. Drummer Nick Barker blasts through the material with devastating force and fluidity while Hestnaes' bass rumbles supremely below as he adds intelligently lays down well-placed backing vocals for added enhancement. Vocalist Shagrath pushes himself to an underworldly level never sounding more sinister and ferocious.
Puritanical Euphoric Misanthropia is not just another Dimmu Borgir release that so many people are expecting to hear by any means. It possesses its own dark emotions and exciting creativity that only a band as experienced as Dimmu Borgir can deliver leaving all other "top tiered" black metal bands flailing helplessly in their wake.
Another chapter is in Dimmu Borgir history is about to take place as they hit the roads in March 2001 to give their brilliant piece of work to the thousands of loyal fans around the world, well.....people "You wanted the best you got the best..... Dimmu Borgir!" show up and prepare to se another awesome show performed by Dimmu Borgir.

SLIPKNOT Slipknot's mix of grinding, post-Korn alternative metal, Marilyn Manson-esque neo-shock rock, and rap-metal helped make them one of the most popular bands in the so-called nu-metal explosion of the late '90s. But even more helpful was their theatrical, attention-grabbing (some critics said ridiculous) image: the band always performed in identical industrial jump suits and homemade Halloween masks, and added to its mysterious anonymity by adopting the numbers zero through eight as stage aliases. Add to that a lyrical preoccupation with darkness and nihilism, and an affectionately insulting name for their fans ("Maggots", and Slipknot's blueprint for nu-metal success was set.
Slipknot were formed in late 1995 in the unlikely locale of Des Moines, IA; after some early personnel shifts, the nine-piece lineup settled around (in order from number zero to number eight): DJ Sid Wilson, drummer Joey Jordison, bassist Paul Grey, percussionist Chris Fehn, guitarist James Root, sampler/programmer Craig Jones, percussionist Shawn "Clown" Crahan, guitarist Mick Thompson, and lead vocalist Corey Taylor. The music scene in Des Moines wasn't much to speak of, and the band's big-time ambition was usually met with disbelief and ridicule, which provided the initial spark for its mostly anonymous stage visuals. On Halloween 1996, Slipknot self-released an album called Mate. Feed. Kill. Repeat., which began to build a buzz around the group once it found its way to several labels. It was picked up for distribution by the Nebraska-based -ismist label, and also caught the attention of Roadrunner Records, which signed Slipknot in 1997. Working with producer Ross Robinson, Slipknot recorded their official, self-titled debut album, which was released in 1999. They gradually built an audience through near-constant touring, working their way up to the summer Ozzfest package tour, which really expanded their audience. Their live shows were a much-discussed hit with metal fans, and the band performed with such energy that Crahan gashed his head open on his own drum kit twice that summer, requiring stitches both times. The tracks "Wait and Bleed" and "Spit It Out" got the band some airplay, but most of the buzz came from touring and word of mouth. Finally, in the spring of 2000, Slipknot was certified platinum; the first such album in Roadrunner's history.
The anticipation for Slipknot's follow-up was intense, and many industry observers predicted that it would debut at number one; however, faced with some stiff competition that week, the band's sophomore effort, Iowa, bowed at number three upon its release in 2001. More heavy touring followed, including another, more prominent slot on that summer's Ozzfest. After a long spell on the road, Slipknot took a break while the members worked on side projects. The band set up its own label, Maggot Recordings, and signed a band called Downthesun, whose lead singer had served as Crahan's drum technician. Wilson, meanwhile, began DJing solo under the name DJ Starscream, and Root and Thompson both worked on solo material. Drummer Jordison worked with a side group called the Rejects, where he'd actually served for quite some time as guitarist. Taylor, meanwhile, started a side band called Superego, and also contributed a solo song, "Bother," to the soundtrack of the 2002 blockbuster Spider-Man. That May, the band got some amusing press when some of its fans discovered the website of a British crocheting group also called "Slipknot," and flooded the members' in-boxes with excessively rude e-mails. Guitarist Joey Jordison and Static-X guitarist Tripp Eisen teamed that summer for the Murderdolls project, while Taylor reformed his old band Stone Sour and released an album. By the winter, Slipknot had still not reunited and Taylor wrote a commentary on the band's website stating that they had not spoken in months, and that they'd rather break up than become "the next Gwar". The statement sparked a quickly resolved minifeud between Taylor and Gwar frontman Oderus Urungus. but it also sent many of the Maggots into a tailspin. By early 2003, Taylor had retracted his comments, and announced plans for a new Slipknot album. By August, the entire squad had decamped Iowa for LA, where they began work on the new record with famously bearded producer Rick Rubin. "Pulse of the Maggots" appeared in early 2004 as an exclusive download; it was followed by a full track listing for Vol. 3: [The Subliminal Verses], which was slated for a May release. Slipknot then embarked on a brief tour as a warm-up for their dates headlining Ozzfest that summer. The group also debuted a fully-redesigned third generation of their famous masks. On May 25th, the Subliminal Verses finally dropped, to the usual clamor of great fanfare and furious anger. ~ Steve Huey, All Music Guide.

KORN Musical revolutions can foment in the oddest places: Athens, Georgia. Aberdeen, Washington. Bakersfield, California.
That's right, Bakersfield; a bleak, arid little town just west of Death Valley that could double as a David Lynch movie set-if there were anything going on, that is. As a kid Fieldy Arvizu spent much of his adolescence "standing around in dirt fields, drinking beer, watching other kids fight." At some point, Fieldy and some friends decided their time would be better spent taking out their frustrations on musical instruments instead.
And rock music would never be the same.
So Fieldy, James "Munky" Shaffer, David Silveria, Brian "Head" Welch, and eventually, an assistant coroner with a troubled past named Jonathan Davis left Bakersfield for Los Angeles and collectively became known as KORN. It helped that they all had common influences--the angry, urban stylings of hip-hop, the heavy, riff-driven angst of death metal. But the sounds emanating from this band's Huntington Beach rehearsal space would soon set an entirely fresh musical precedent--and set off a wave of imitators that eventually threatened to engulf the band itself.
After touring for nearly two years, KORN was signed by Immortal and released their now-classic eponymous 1994 debut. KORN opened with the prophetic, gravel-throated challenge "Are you ready?!" before kicking into the heaviest guitar sound yet heard in rock thanks to the team of Shaffer and Welch, who tuned their already-low 7-string guitars even lower and played with no regard for traditional harmonic consonance. The sound was metallic sludge, but tempered oddly by bassist Fieldy and drummer Silveria, who added a mix of porn-soundtrack funk and hip-hop rhythms that was puzzlingly aggressive and chill. Next, nursery-rhyme-like melodies were woven into the dark mix, helping make KORN the creepiest, heaviest debut since Black Sabbath. But Davis had no desire to sing about devils and witches; he was busy exorcising real-life demons. Songs such as "Faget" and "Shoots and Ladders" were discomfortingly personal confessionals of shattered childhood, and by album's end Davis was literally in tears in the harrowing "Daddy."
"Are you ready?!" Well, commercial radio sure wasn't. And neither was MTV. Not yet, anyway.
So KORN took their grisly show on the road someplace they knew it'd get noticed: back to the tour circuit, and a stint on Ozzfest. The band's unique sound may have been unfamiliar, but the kids knew it rocked mightily-and many of them could directly relate to Davis' grim lyrical obsessions. At that point in time, there was quite simply no band on earth like KORN.
And so they began to amass a following that would send their next album, 1996's brutal yet cheekily titled Life is Peachy, into platinum sales. And this time at least the press was ready. "...Perverts, psychopaths and paranoiacs" gushed the Chicago Tribune. "An ingeniously twisted piece of personal hell" raved Cleveland's Plain Dealer.
And while Peachy served more to reinforce the band's core sound rather than innovate in the manner of the debut, it did introduce to the world to a side of the band no one ever suspected existed: humor. The bagpipe-driven cover version of War's "Lowrider" was just one example. An A-Z dictionary of vulgarity called "K@#%!" was another-though some critics and self-appointed moral guardians were put off by the language. One Zeeland, Michigan high school administrator told the press that KORN was "indecent, vulgar, and obscene" shortly after suspending a student for wearing a T-shirt that merely said "KORN." After the band filed a cease-and-desist order against the school on behalf of the student, he was reinstated. But the episode marks yet another milestone for the band: it was the first of many times the band would go to bat for its fans.
Years of touring followed again as the band fortified its fan-base to the degree that their next album, 1998's Follow the Leader, would debut at No. 1 on Billboard's Top 200. The band charted two bona fide singles with "Got the Life" and "Freak on a Leash," while the album's actual "rap-metal" tracks ("Children of the KORN" with guest rapper Ice Cube, and "All in the Family" with guest abuser Fred Durst) were some of the band's hardest-hitting to date, and reaffirmed their status as the band by which others would be judged in this genre.
Others seemed to agree. Rolling Stone christened Follow the Leader one of the best alternative albums of the '90s, praising KORN's ability to channel "their disgust with the state of the nation--and the generation doomed to inherit it--into booming, articulate violence."
Booming, articulate violence aside, Follow the Leader exposed yet another side of KORN.
When a 14-year-old boy suffering from terminal intestinal cancer requested to meet the band for a few minutes through the Make-A-Wish foundation, the band was stunned. And nervous. But they hit it off, and the few minutes turned into a day, and that turned into a few more days, and then a song-"Justin."
Reaffirming KORN's populist roots were their weekly live Internet video broadcasts from the studio during the album's making. These "after school specials" kept fans up on the progress of the record, offered them live, call-in Q&A sessions with the band themselves, and introduced them to guests running the gamut from members of 311, the Deftones, and Limp Bizkit to porn stars like Ron Jeremy and Randi Rage.
In yet another populist move, the band launched "KORN Kampaign '98," a political campaign-style American tour to promote their album that featured "fan conferences" in major cities throughout the country. KORN also put together a heavy-rock-and-rap arena circus, mockingly called the Family Values Tour, which featured everyone from Ice Cube to Limp Bizkit to Rammstein, and proved to be one of 1998's most successful tours. A live compilation CD, The Family Values Tour '98, was certified gold the following summer, when KORN performed an explosive set at Woodstock '99.
Meanwhile, KORN's record label Elementree was up and running just fine as its first signed act, Orgy, scored a platinum record for them with Candyass.
By now, almost every heavy band on the planet was playing down-tuned 7-string guitars (which were virtually extinct before KORN). The proliferation of sound-alike bands ironically placed the band in a tenuous position: Not only was KORN in danger of seeming "played out" in the very genre they spearheaded, the beginnings of a backlash to "rap-metal" chart domination were cropping up in the media. KORN knew that another Peachy or Leader, however great, however welcome by fans, and however commercially successful, would not do. It was time to reinvent themselves and break from the pack-a risky move given the band's traditionally loyal following. KORN took some time off to work on what would be one of the most important records of their career.
"We knew when we wrote this album that we were going to have to do something really great," Shaffer said at the time. "...We had to move forward, push the boundaries, and create something very personal."
In yet another nod to their audience, KORN allowed the fans to design the cover. Fans submitted their work, and one fan painting was chosen for the record's striking cover art. Several runners-up got limited-edition album covers of their own work.
Musically, Issues turned out to be the best album since the group's debut release, and eclipsed even that record in strength of songwriting. When Issues was finally released, all the band's efforts paid off wildly. For the second time in their career, they debuted at No. 1. They had yet another high-charting single with the eerie, crushing "Falling Away From Me." And the record went quadruple platinum. This was followed by yet another massively successful tour, which kicked off on Halloween 1999 at Harlem's historic Apollo Theater.
If Issues represented an artistic, critical, and commercial triumph at a crucial moment for the band, how would KORN respond to the inevitable pressure of its follow-up?
By making a better one: Untouchables. Using a 24-BIT sampling rate--twice the highest rate normally used for recording--KORN and producer Michael Beinhorn have created a rich sonic panorama. Unfathomably heavy, uncompromisingly introspective, and startlingly unique, Untouchables catapults KORN to yet another level.
But what should we expect? After all, this is a band marked by an insatiable desire to push the rock envelope. It's what makes them KORN.

_______________________________________ black celebration....that's THE MISSION!!!
SEPULTURA The curse were spoken, but very few creed that those boys would fly so high. Many people know SEPULTURA began as a role-play, early 80's in Belo Horizonte, a city located in southeast Brazil. And destiny was generous when it gave Paulo Jr. (b), Jairo Guedez (g), Max (g/v) and Igor Cavalera the ways of metal music. The Brazilian death metal scene was a crawling toddler when the band released their first LP in 1985. Entitled BESTIAL DEVASTATION, the record was split with fellow band Overdose and their SÉCULO XX recording.
Songs like Antichrist and Bestial Devastation made clear what SEPULTURA's goal was with their music, and their ever-growing legion of fans understood them well. The next step up was their very own album MORBID VISIONS (1986). Full of good riffs and the everlasting anthem Troops of Doom this remarkable record made them known all over Brazil, giving the band the opportunity of touring their land. But it also were their last album with Jairo Guedez, who unfortunately decided to leave the band.
SEPULTURA was growing in the Brazilian scene at a speed never seen before and their need for a new lead guitar player was fulfilled when Andreas Kisser, a talented and innovative musician like no other, joined the band. 1987 marked the release of SCHIZOPHRENIA, an instant classic to Brazilian metal and very well produced record with outstanding songs, like Escape to the Void and the instrumental piece Inquisition Symphony. By this time SEPULTURA arrived in foreign ears, driving attention from abroad to the Brazilian scene.
SCHIZOPHRENIA was bootlegged in Europe, selling 30.000 copies for which the band received no copyright profits at all. In its homeland, the band was playing even in the most inaccessible cities, like Manaus near the Amazon in Northern Brazil.
Igor, Max, Paulo and Andreas
Reaching for fame, after this outstanding album, SEPULTURA signed with Dutch label RoadRunner Records. Their first release on RR was 1989's BENEATH THE REMAINS, a reference in metal music nowadays. The band recorded the album in Brazil and despite a low budget, decided to bring Scott Burns from the USA to produce it. His experience and expertise were essential to bring professionalism to the band, teaching them to work like grown-ups. Burns also mixed and mastered the album in the US, something no other Brazilian metal band had ever done before.
To support the release of BENEATH THE REMAINS, SEPULTURA went on their first international tour. They toured Europe as an opening act for metal-legend Sodom, traveled over the US and went down to Mexico, marking their name across an ever growing amount of frontiers. It was a memorable tour for the band as they met some of their all time idols, Motörhead and Metallica, crossed the Berlin wall before the cold war was over, and shot their first video. Inner Self was the chosen song, one of the album's greatest hits along with title track Beneath the Remains and Mass Hypnosis.
First international tour
Being the first Brazilian metal band to succeed abroad, they were invited to the select group of headliners of the second edition of the Rock in Rio festival. To mark the occasion, their upcoming album ARISE (1991) had an anticipate release as a commemorative edition, the ARISE ROUGH MIXES (today a collector's item).
Max Cavalera
After playing in Rio de Janeiro, the band played a free outdoors gig in Sao Paulo in the Charles Muller Square, just outside Pacaembu Stadium, as a huge party to compensate for the long time they were away from their homeland. Unfortunately among the crowd of over 40.000 enthusiastic and excited fans, things ran out of control and a fan was murdered.
This tragic incident brought an aura of fear surrounding the Brazilian show business producers, and conveyed a false image of evilness of the SEPULTURA fans. For years to come all their concerts in Brazil would only happened after long and harsh negotiations.
However, the ARISE tour was a complete success worldwide. The band played in places they could never imagine they would like Greece, Japan and Australia, where one of the band's first single (Third World Posse) was released. In Holland, SEPULTURA played their first big international festival, the Dynamo Open Air. Also, over 100.000 fans celebrated their 2 sold out stadium concerts in Indonesia, where they went gold on ARISE's cassette tapes sales.
Beside the Third World Chaos single, singles were released for the songs Under Siege and Dead Embryonic Cells. Two video clips from Arise were done (Arise and Dead Embryonic Cells), and a home video entitled Under Siege, with live footage from Barcelona, Spain. After all was said, sung, played and done SEPULTURA had gotten the recognition they deserved for their hard work.
Recording the video for 'Territory'
But their most important work was released in 1993, with a stunning party in a medieval castle in England, where the press from all over the globe met. With CHAOS AD the band incorporated some unexpected elements to their brutal sound, like the Brazilian rhythms in the instrumental piece Kaiowas.
Ever since ince this album came out, bringing new ideas, concepts and cultures in their music became SEPULTURA's trademark. Territory was the first single off CHAOS AD. The Territory video clip was shot in Israel, which was a huge step forward for a Brazilian metal band.
The band then won the MTV Video Music Awards for best video of the year in Brazil. The songs Refuse/Resist and Slave New World also became singles/videos, and later the three were released as a home video (Third World Chaos).
Promo picture for CHAOS A.D.
This amazing album brought along an amazing tour. They broke taboos being the first Brazilian band to tour Russia and also the first Latin American band to play "The Monsters of Rock" festival in Donington, England. Meanwhile, in Brazil, it wasn't easy to book concerts as the band's fans still were portrayed as violent people following that horrible incident at the free Sao Paulo gig (during the ARISE Tour). But thanks to the Brazilian Official Fan Club (a.k.a. SOBFC) efforts the band finally could showcase its new work in its homeland. Working as hard as they could, the fan club members and Antonio Coelho (a.k.a. Toninho, president and founder) obtained an amount of signatures so impressive demanding SEPULTURA's presence at "The Hollywood Rock Festival" that its producers had no choice but adding the band to the bill.
In 1994 Max developed a great parallel project with Alex Newport from the band Fudge Tunnel. They named it NAILBOMB and recorded the album POINT BLANK with ultra-special guests Andreas Kisser, Igor Cavalera, Dino Cazares (Fear Factory), just to name a few. NAILBOMB recorded a second and last album while playing at the DYNAMO Open Air to a crowd of 100.000. It was a quick but strong project, and is considered a cult by the SEPULTURA fans.
With the Xavantes tribe
By then, SEPULTURA had written its part of the history of music and was celebrating a decade of existence but still felt the urge to create, innovate and evolve. And they did rose to a new level with their 1996's effort entitled ROOTS. The album title made clear what had influenced the band during the writing and recording process. Lots of Brazilian icons can be found in this remarkable record but the strongest is without a doubt the experience with the Brazilian native Xavantes tribe. The band spent some days living with the tribe and recorded the song Itsari during its stay there.
The songs Roots Bloody Roots, Attitude and Ratamahatta were all realeased as singles and videos. The first video clip (Roots Bloody Roots) was recorded in the city of Salvador, the birthplace of Brazil. The Attitude video features The Gracie family, Brazilian sport legends, and creators of the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.
With Gracie family recording the video for 'Attitude'
Ratamahatta is sung in Portuguese and features Brazilian percussionist Carlinhos Brown. The video clip for the song won the Best Rock Video award at MTV's Video Music Awards Brazil, and is the only video of SEPULTURA featuring no humans. It only shows puppets in a digitally animated world. The band then released a double version of the album entitled THE ROOTS OF SEPULTURA, with the regular version of ROOTS in one CD and a brief musical history of the band on the second one.
Monsters Of Rock '96
The ROOTS tour was scheduled worldwide and included some important festivals. The band's routine was quite tiring. Tragedy struck the band the day SEPULTURA was playing Donington's "Monsters of Rock" Festival. They received the sad news that a close friend of the band, the son of the band's manager and Max's stepson, Dana Wells, had died. As soon as possible Max flew back to the USA and the band had to perform for the first time as a three piece, in one of the most meaningful concerts of their career. Some fellow musicians helped them out and the three band members did well, they were hurt and sad, but didn't let their fans down that day.
The crowd understood the situation and showed respect to the band with one minute of absolute silence, a bone chilling moment. After this concert SEPULTURA took a break to pay their last respcets and mourn Dana but was back on the road shortly after.
The band did extended and successful concerts during that tour, but meanwhile administrative concerns were creating tension within the band. Often, they would not agree with the management and ultimately opted not to renew the contract of their manager when the time came. Unfortunately, the band's manager happened to be Max's wife, and the couple couldn't agree with the rest of the band. They were given the choice to split the management of the band, so Max could be managed by his wife. Instead, Max decided to leave the band. The rest of the tour had to be cancelled and the band's future was in jeopardy.
Recovering from the shock, the band knew they couldn't end their life's work this way and abandon their legion of loyal fans, as SEPULTURA is more than a band to some; it also is an ideology. As soon as they could they started working on their next album as a three piece. Meanwhile, Max went on and formed a new band (SOULFLY).
Sepultura, 1997
Igor, Paulo and Andreas found a new way for their music. This new direction brought Paulo's bass to the spotlight and Andreas did he vocals for a while but, as he never had sung before, wasn't comfortable doing it. SEPULTURA then started auditioning for a new singer.
The demo tapes came flying in RoadRunner Records offices from all over the world and the selection process proved to be a tough one. A small number of vocalists sounded good enough to take the spot. Each received a tape containing a couple of songs and were asked to work on it, including writing lyrics, before meeting the band for an audition. The final auditions took place in Brazil, for the fondness of the new singer with the band's homeland and its culture was essential, so were the bonding and relations with the band members.
Igor, Paulo, Derrick and Andreas
Right from the start, the band was impressed by Derrick Green. Derrick felt comfortable in Brazil, became a soccer fan, and got along with the band extremely well. Derrick was the man SEPULTURA was looking for and he became part of the family.
When Derrick joined, most of the songs were already written, only the the vocals were missing, and the band was in a rush to get the album released. Still they did everything the best they could, and AGAINST was released in 1998.
A very emotional album, AGAINST reflects the struggle of the band to win back their confidence and sportrays the power of SEPULTURA. Very special guests contributed to the album : long time friends of the band Joao Gordo (REZA) and Jason Newsted (HATRED ASIDE) and the Japanese Taiko drummers from KODO (KAMAITACHI), who hosted SEPULTURA at the KODO village (the Sado Island in Japan).
Then came the time to meet the fans again and make clear to everyone that all the press's gossip about SEPULTURA being dead were shameless rumors and lies. The first concert of the AGAINST era was a big charity event in Brazil, the BARULHO CONTRA FOME (Noise against hunger) concert.
Barulho Contra Fome ad
Derrick had been in a few bands before, but never had to face such a numerous, loyal and demanding audience. SEPULTURA rehearsed for BARULHO CONTRA FOME by playing a few concerts in small venues in California, including Los Angeles (Brick by Brick), under the name 'TROOPS OF DOOM'.
BARULHO CONTRA FOME was a great success. Several special SEPULTURA guests performed with them, presenting the 30.000 fans a show they'll remember forever. Mike Patton traveled from Italy to Sao Paulo to jam with the band. Jason Newsted came from the US. The Xavantes Indians got to know a whole new world coming down from their village to the concrete jungle of Sao Paulo. Carlinhos Brown left sunny Bahia to do RATAMAHATTA again. Jairo gladly joined his ex-band mates again and horror movie legend Coffin Joe blessed the band in his evil ways. Press and fans from abroad joined the enthusiastic crowd and warmly welcomed Derrick to the Sepultribe.
The singles 'TRIBUS', 'AGAINST' AND 'CHOKE' (this one also having a video clip with live footage from BARULHO CONTRA FOME show) were released off AGAINST. The AGAINST TOUR was succesful, reaching countries all over the world. SEPULTURA join classic metal act SLAYER to tour for the first time, putting an end to an unfounded rumor that the bands didn't get along well. And for the joy of die-hard Brazilian fans, SEPULTURA finally toured Brazil after years of absence.
As soon as the tour was over, the four musicians started writing the next album. The AGAINST years were an essential energy boost to the band that led them to conquer their own NATION (2001).
Andreas, Paulo, Igor and Derrick altogether wrote an album and created a utopian world. A special place for the most important people: fans, friends and families. The lyrics of the song SEPULNATION explain it all, their music is their weapon and they use it skillfully.
Rock In Rio 3
Thanks to the cooperation of the band's WebTribe, SEPULTURA were invited to play the third edition of the Rock in Rio festival. There they introduced NATION to a 150.000 people crowd, starting the show with the amazing anthem VALTIO, written with the collaboration of Finnish musicians APOCALYPTICA.
This new record went gold even before it reached the stores. It has its own style, guests like Jello Biafra and Dr. Israel, and even quotes from Mother Teresa de Calcutta, Albert Einstein, Gandhi and the 14th Dalai Lama.
The SEPULNATION already is rising up!

GOOD CHARLOTTE Good Charlotte's frontmen, identical twins Joel and Benji Madden, were born on March 11, 1979 to a middle class family in Waldorf, Maryland. Their mother raised them with a strict Christian up-bringing. Their father left the family when the twins were 16 years old, causing financial problems for the twins, their mother, older brother, and younger sister. For a short period of time the twins had to work as shampoo boys in a salon. Benji and Joel cite their older brother Josh Madden for introducing them to rock music by bands such as Rancid and Social Distortion. After attending a Beastie Boys concert at the age of 16, Benji and Joel decided to start their very own band, although Joel had never sung before, and Benji had never played guitar. The first band they started was called "The Benji, Joel, and Brian Band,' which they started with a friend. The band was short lived. They then started Good Charlotte in 1995 when they recruited childhood friends Paul Thomas (bass) and Aaron Escolopio (drums). They soon moved to Annapolis, Maryland where they were introduced to Billy Martin by a friend.
After releasing an EP, entitled Another EP, in 1999, Good Charlotte released their first self-titled album in 2000, which was not a huge commercial success. Singles that were released from that album include "Little Things" and "Motivation Proclamation," and "Festival Song".
Aaron was the drummer in their debut album, Good Charlotte, before leaving the band in early 2001 to join the band Wakefield with his brother, Ryan. He was replaced with Dusty, who was just a temporary drummer, who had left the band before the recording of their second album, The Young & the Hopeless. As a result, veteran professional studio drummer Josh Freese plays for that album.
2002's The Young And The Hopeless was much more popular, and marked the bands emergence into mainstream music. The single that made them famous, titled "Lifestyles of the Rich and the Famous", topped charts around the globe. Singles that followed from that album included "The Anthem" ,"Girls and Boys", "Hold On" and "The Young and The Hopeless". "The Young and the Hopeless" received a 3x-platinum certification from the RIAA, landing the band on Saturday Night Live, the covers of Rolling Stone and Alternative Press, a two page feature in the New York Times, and spots on CNN and The Today Show. Good Charlotte were also hugely popular on MTV, where the Madden Brothers once served as hosts on the late night music video show "All Things Rock." Their music videos were favorites on both MTV and MTV2, with "The Anthem" going on to receive the "Viewers Choice Award" on MTV's 2003 Video Music Awards.
Chris Wilson was the band's drummer for their third album, The Chronicles of Life and Death, which was released in 2004. The singles released from that album include "Predictable", "I Just Wanna Live", "We Believe" and "The Chronicles of Life and Death". This album was considered a departure from their previous 2 albums. In May 2005, Chris left the band for personal health reasons[1].
Today, through non-stop touring and wide publicity, Good Charlotte has built a huge fanbase amoung young people around the world.
Their most recent "Noise to the World Tour" with Simple Plan featured Dean Butterworth, who has previously played with Morrissey, as the band's current temporary drummer.

GREEN DAY Childhood friends Billie Joe Armstrong (guitar, vocals) and Mike Dirnt (bass; born Michael Pritchard) formed their first band 'Sweet Children' when they were 14 years old in Rodeo, California. By 1989, the group had added drummer John Kiftmeyer (aka: Al Sobrante) and changed their name to Green Day after one of their songs. That year, the band independently released their first EP, 1,000 Hours, which was well received in the punk scene. The band soon signed to local independent label, Lookout! Records (run by Larry Livermore) and their debut album "39/Smooth" was also released that year. Shortly after its release, Kiftmeyer announced that he was going to college and suggested his former drum tutor Tre Cool (born Frank Edwin Wright, III) to take over as the band's permanent drummer. Throughout the early '90s, Green Day continued to cultivate a cult following, which only gained strength with the release of their sophomore album, 1992's 'Kerplunk'.
The underground success of 'Kerplunk' led to a wave of interest from the major record labels. Eventually the band decided to sign with Reprise Records and their major label debut 'Dookie' was released in the spring of 1994. Thanks to relentless touring and somewhat surprising MTV support for initial single "Longview," Dookie became a mainstream hit. The album continued to gain momentum throughout the summer, with the second single "Basket Case" spending five weeks on the top of the American modern rock charts. At the end of the summer, the band stole the show at Woodstock '94, which helped the sales of Dookie increase. By the time the fourth single "When I Come Around" began its seven-week stay at number one in the modern rock charts in early 1995, Dookie had sold over five million copies in the US alone. Eventually this figure would top eight million records sold in America, and selling over eleven million copies internationally. Along with Dookie's commercial success, the band also received critical acclaim when they won the 1994 Grammy for Best Alternative Music Performance.
Green Day quickly followed Dookie with 'Insomniac' in the fall of 1995. Prior to the album's release they again hit number one again on the U.S. modern rock charts with "J.A.R.," (a tribute to their friend Jason Andrew Relva, which appears on the soundtrack to the film 'Angus'). 'Insomniac' performed well initially, entering the US charts at number two and selling over two million copies by the spring of 1996. However, none of the subsequent singles -- including the radio favourite 'Brain Stew/Jaded' -- were as popular as those from Dookie. In the spring of 1996, Green Day abruptly cancelled a European tour, claiming exhaustion. Following the cancellation, the band spent the rest of the year resting and writing new material. The end result is what many call the best album of their career: 'Nimrod'.
'Nimrod' was well received by fans and critics alike, managing to land at #10 on the Billboard charts having sold 80,000 copies in it's first week. However, Green Day's comeback single "Hitchin' A Ride" only made it to #5 on the modern rock charts despite being placed in heavy rotation on MuchMusic and MTV. In response to this the band released what is arguably their most successful single ever. Although it would not make it to number one in the mainstream charts (it's highest position was #2), "Time of Your Life" is now probably the most well known song Green Day have ever written. Featuring Billie Joe on acoustic guitar & vocals, and Petra Hayden (of That Dog) on violin, "Time Of Your Life" became the song to play in any remotely sad situation. The song was even used on the last ever episode of the hit TV show Seinfeld (the most watched finale in the history of TV). Along with Seinfeld, the song was also played during two different episodes of hit drama E.R, making it possibly the most heard song that year on television. Despite gaining the band more critical respect than they would have received with another Dookie or Insomniac, 'Nimrod' only sold about two million copies, and was seen as a commercial flop in comparison. During the 'Nimrod' era the band also vastly improved their live show and even one "Best Live Performance" at the Kerrang awards.
After nearly two years out of the media spotlight Green Day returned in late 1999 to play Neil Young's "Bridge School Benefit Concert", their first live acoustic performance. Green Day began recording their follow-up to "Nimrod" shortly after, which would eventually become "Warning:". Early in the recording process, the band decided to fire producer Scott Litt, and produce the album themselves. This would be the first time since "Kerplunk" that anyone other than Rob Cavallo had produced the band. After they finished recording, Green Day decided to do something else they hadn't done before and headlined the 2000 Vans Warped Tour. Green Day played an amazing set and brought more fans to the tour than any other year in Warped's history (their Toronto performance alone attracted 7,000 more fans than they had any other year).
Released in the fall of 2000, "Warning:" was by far Green Day's most ambitious album to date and first single "Minority" sat at the top of the Billboard Modern Rock Chart after just four weeks. Although "Warning:" contained some of the band's best songs to date (in particular the excellent third single "Waiting", many fans didn't take too well to the band's new punk-folk sound. Although it has since been certified platinum sales status, "Warning" is arguably Green Day's least successful album. After "Warning:" the band released a greatest hits album entitled 'International Super Hits' and a b-sides compilation called "Shenanigans" as well as their first DVD 'International Supervideos" which chronicles the band's music videos thus far. The band subsequently embarked on a huge 'Greatest Hits' world tour which lead to many people believing the end was nigh for Green Day seeing as most bands only release a "Greatest Hits" albums near the end of their career.
However, these rumours soon died down when after another long hiatus the band announced that a new album was in the works. "What's It Going To Sound Like?" people wondered from all over the Green Day community. "Is it going to be another 'Warning' or are they going to go back to their Punk Rock roots?". Those questions have recently been answered with the explosive new single "American Idiot" which incidentally is also the title track to the new album. For the first time in Green Day's history, Billie Joe has let loose some great politically motivated lyrics and from what we have heard of this album already it looks like Green Day might have made the best album of their career!

_______________________________________ black celebration....that's THE MISSION!!!
The name Belphegor or Baalphagor is a corruption of the biblical name Baal-Peor, the god of the Moabites. When the Israelis of old were in the northeast corner of the plains of Moab ( Abel-Shittim), they had illicit relations with the Maobite women and sacrificed them to their god. As punishment, all those who sacrificed to Baal-Peor were put to death. This slaughter amounted to 24,000 deaths.
Today, Belphegor is not only known as the demon of discoveries and of ingenious inventions that is said to appear as an enticing young women and to give wealth, while generally represented as a horned being with a twisted goatee and long hooked nails, sitting naked on his throne. BELPHEGOR emerges as one of the most extreme line ups to ever come out of the death black metal scene. The band members themselves describe their diabolical hell ride as "Supreme Death/Black Metal Art and pay homage to the lustful demon both lyrically and artistically.
My life 's been ruled by this sound for more than 2 decades now. Belphegor = blood & fire!" Helmuth
Since 1992, these Austrians established a committed fan base thanks to three excellent full length releases, The Last Supper (1995 on Lethal Records), Blutsabbath (1997 on Last Episode Records) and the highly acclaimed Necrodaemon Terrorsathan (2000 on Last Episode Records). BELPHEGOR's debut strike The Last Supper had not been available for years when the band decided to re-release it, due to popular demand, in 1999. This re-issue contains three bonus tracks plus three original tracks from the legendary EP Obscure and Deep, originally released in 1994.
...The music has absolute priority in the Belphegor camp and thrones above all. Becoming mightier, more intense with every opus has always been our aim. Helmuth
In 2002, the hyperblast war machine, a.k.a. BELPHEGOR, returned with a release that marked their 10th anniversary. Infernal Live Orgasm (on the bands own Phallelujah Productions) includes a full color 24-page booklet featuring photo collages that document the band's first decade, as well as two new studio tracks: the hate spawning, high-speed, monstrous hymns "Swarm of rats" and "Der Untergang pt. II", eight live recordings of a murderous sound quality, played even faster than on the original studio recordings, two bonus tracks from the legendary demos "Kruzifixion" (1991) and "Bloodbath in Paradise" (1992), as well as two blasphemous video clips.
We produce our own videos completely and that's why you can talk of a typical Belphegor video: very raw ´n ´dirty. So we are satisfied with the result. Steve "El Oasch" our merchandiser edited the scenes..." Helmuth
In 2003, BELPHEGOR released their fourth diabolical masterpiece to once again prove that they indeed belong at the pinnacle of the infernal Death Metal genre. Lucifer Incestus shows no mercy in its high-speed and astoundingly precise execution. Like a tank plundering out of the loudspeakers, it offered a colossal production, track for track, at the hands of Alexander Krull.
...We had the best equipment/studio/producer yet, the whole recording sessions were awesome. We spent nearly four weeks in the studio, so the conditions were perfect. I had been looking for such a rich sound for years and Alex did a brilliant job at the German Mastersound Studios: digitally recorded and analogue mastered." Helmuth
The Present:
Goatreich-Fleshcult will be released on Napalm Records on 28 Feb 2005 as both a regular jewel case and a limited 6-page digipack including bonus track. It boasts of an amazing production and presents a further developed BELPHEGOR. Along with the typical aggressive blasts, one can also find a monstrous Death Metal Doom masterpiece, entitled Sepulture of Hypocrisy, that climaxes to an unimaginable intensity.
We don't prostitute ourselves or kiss anyone's ass, so as to sell a couple more albums... Art should invoke controversy. Anything else is "done that, been there" shit. Death/Black Metal must be exciting and not have a calming effect! Helmuth
Goatreich-Fleshcult may be describe as the most varied Belphegor opus to date, in which both its lyrics and layout, at the hands of Ralph Manfreda, are even more morbid than in the past. BELPHEGOR have gathered their experience and know-how of the last ten years and packed them into Goatreich-Fleshcult...
Belphegor's best release to date, Goatreich-Fleshcult, finally places them at the same level as the other great counterparts of the genre, Marduk and Dark Funeral. Norman Sickinger, Metal Heart, Germany
With each new BELPHEGOR release one thing remains certain: the band takes no prisoners and a purchase always guarantees a satisfied customer. From the first to the last second, Goatreich-Fleshcult presents a musical bloodbath not ashamed to deliver variety. At the forefront are the expected neck breakers and fast Death Metal parts, which alternate with slower passages and breaks only to resume above and beyond all speed limits. BELPHEGOR proudly show their true colors: Death Metal with a merciless Black Metal spin. Their technical prowess also shines through and can be appreciated in the solos that adorn each track. Fans of the band will not think twice to make this album theirs and neither should anyone into Death/Black Metal.
Current Line-up:
Band Members from left to right: Helmuth: heretic grunts, chainsaw, Sigurd: six-string terrorism, Barth: 4-string overdrive, Nefastus: highspeed artillery

_______________________________________ black celebration....that's THE MISSION!!!
It seems like just yesterday that Static-X were the venerable newcomers on the heavy metal block, the release of Wisconsin Death Trip in 1999 serving as a coming-out party for the Los Angeles quartet’s molten hybrid. Equal parts heavy metal, industrial thunder, and hook-laden, songwriting savvy, they scraped the senses with the untempered energy of digital screams and mosh pit mayhem. The debut went platinum, and it’s follow-up, Machine, has been certified gold as the band toured side-by-side with the biggest names in music, from Reinventing The Steel alongside Pantera and Slayer, to Family Values with Linkin Park, Staind and Stone Temple Pilots, and amongst Black Sabbath, Godsmack, P.O.D. and Queens Of The Stone Age on OZZfest 2000.
Now, with the release of Shadow Zone, frontman Wayne Static, guitarist Tripp Eisen, bassist Tony Campos and drummer Nick Oshiro stand armed and dangerous, equipped with an album that bleeds with the conviction we’ve come to expect, and slams with the crushing fury of a monster truck run amok. While it may sound cliché to call the release their strongest effort to date, anything less wouldn’t do the band justice, as the songs have evolved from brute slabs of sonic fury, to fine-tuned acts of musical misanthropy. “I can’t compare this to the other two albums at all, because it was an entirely different experience this time,” says Static of the new release. “Tripp was in there this time, and it was the first time I ever had a songwriting partner. It was a very refreshing experience, because he wrote some of the songs, and all I had to deal with was putting the vocals to them. I try to look at music as a challenge, and in a way I think this record sounds a lot more well-rounded.”
Granted, it was Eisen’s first time in the studio with Static-X—he joined the band immediately following the recording of Machine—but it’s Static who was most responsible for Shadow Zone’s jagged depths. “The funny thing is, most of the traditional Static-X-style songs on the record are the ones that Tripp wrote,” he says when asked about the vocal melodies that manifest themselves throughout the album. “I mean, you always want to push yourself and stretch—it gets kind of boring if you do the same shit over and over again—and I think that when I did ‘Not Meant for Me’ for the Queen Of The Damned soundtrack, that was real singing, and I had never done that with Static-X. People responded really well to it, and it was a lot of fun, so I figure that I might as well go for it…”
The results are an album with vocal hues as colorful as the music that carries them. Lead single “The Only” introduces a crisper, cleaner sounding Static, industrial-strength bites and barks replaced by a melodic texture that makes the music even more impacting. From crisper and cleaner, to downright eerie on “So,” where emotion and distress take center stage on one of the most haunting songs of the band’s catalog. It’s that variety, though, that makes Shadow Zone such an inviting place. “In past bands, I have done everything from acoustic songs to speed metal/death metal stuff, and I think this new album is a culmination of every type of genre I have ever done,” says the frontman. “Before, we were trying to be a little different, trying everything we could to try to differentiate ourselves, and I spent more time disguising my lyrics and trying to not sound too personal. Now, I don’t really care about that anymore. Now, Static-X are who we are, and I just want to write great songs and see what we can build upon.”
So in addition to the savagery of “Destroy All” and the pulverizing effect of “Kill Your Idols,” you’ve got the somber aura of the album’s closer, “Invincible,” a headfirst dive into a twisted psyche. And Static isn’t the only one with a conscience, as Eisen’s political savvy shines through the mirth on “Dead World.” “That’s a song that has some of my lyrics,” says the guitarist, reciting “Sometimes I wish I could see beyond this dead world…” “The verses, the lyrics that I wrote, are philosophical; describing how this world and our culture has been brought down because of governmental policies that are just destroying the free market system—We are living in a dead world and it’s just going to get worse unless we realize how to turn it around.”
“Writing with Tripp was kind of strange at first, because I’d never really written with anyone before,” admits Static, “but we really got into a rhythm with things and figured out how to communicate…” “And we communicate really well,” Eisen adds of the quartet. “We all worked on these songs—There are thirteen songs on the new album, and each song has its own history and way it was written. There are a couple of songs where I wrote all the music and Wayne wrote the lyrics, some of them were full band efforts, and there’s even one song from a few years ago that we re-worked. We wrote a couple songs all together, jamming, like the first single, “The Only”—That was the first one we all wrote together as a full band.”
The newest addition to the Static-X camp is drummer Nick Oshiro, who quickly established himself as the perfect successor to departed drummer Ken Jay, and the ideal player to fill the parts laid down by Josh Freese [A Perfect Circle] in the studio. Despite the fact that Static and Campos are the only two remaining original members of Static-X, the band’s namesake feels more confident than ever with their present lineup. “The chemistry is actually better than it ever was,” he says. “It’s weird, because [original guitarist] Koichi came in right before we got signed, did the record, toured, and he quit. In my mind, it’s like, ‘Was he even in the band?’ He was in the band for like two years, and Tripp has been with us for more than three years now—We are all laidback, and with Nick, we made sure that we got someone in the band that fits in, that we will like touring with, and it feels good… Really good. The old songs still sound the same, maybe even better.
“There are always going to be a few people who say, ‘I miss Ken, I miss Koichi.’ But you know what? Life goes on, and I feel our show is still one of the most high-energy shows out there, and people can’t deny it. I think it’s because offstage, we all get along, we are like family, and everyone is a really good player and we love what we do. We are performing, not acting, and we’re not trying to be any certain thing, we just go out and rock and kick everyone’s ass. I think we will continue to evolve while keeping some of the elements that make us who we are. That’s what we’ve done with Shadow Zone. This is the next step in our evolution.”

WITHIN TEMPTATION Within Temptation got founded in 1996. Robert Westerholt, who had already found a singer (his girlfriend Sharon den Adel), started the band. In less than two months, they had been offered various contracts for a record deal. WT decided to sign with DSFA Records and things got started.
After signing to DSFA, things got rolling. The first album, "Enter", was released in April 1997 and soon after that, WT already played Dynamo 1997. It was their fifth gig ever... After playing on Dynamo they got asked for quite a lot of other gigs and at the end of 1997 (November) they even did a two-week tour through Germany and Austria. Some other pretty big gigs followed, including Noorderslag. And Dynamo 1998 of course, where WT played the main stage, after playing the campsite in 1997. Around the time that they played this gig at Dynamo, they also released an EP called "The Dance". This was supposed to serve as a small treat to span the gap between Enter and a new record.
In 1999 WT decided to take things slow. After two years of performing and far too less breaks, they needed some time for themselves. So nothing really exciting happened except they finished their studies and their own studio became reality.
2000 turned out to be the year of major changes. The band received invitations to play at the major festivals in the Benelux countries. In December of this year the cd Mother Earth was released. Many Dutch professional music magazines voted this cd as their cd-of-the-month. Various album charts were topped and the number of fans increased heavily.
In 2001 Within Temptation did a lot of touring, both inside- and outside of The Netherlands. Besides a club tour of 40 ‘sold-out’ concert halls, many festivals concerts were done. One of the highlights was a concert at the famous Pinkpop festival (100.000 visitors). Also concerts in Paris, Mexico-City and at Belgium Festivals were given. 2 cd-singles were released, Our Farewell and Ice Queen.
2002 became the year of the mass-breakthrough. The single Ice Queen reached the number 1 position in may charts, both in The Netherlands and in Belgium. The Album Mother Earth reached the Platinum status in The Netherlands and the Gold status in Belgium. In both countries TMF/MTV Awards were achieved. The band played at the major Festivals in the Benelux (Ozzfest, Lowlands, Dynamo, Rock Werchter, Pukkelpop, Parkpop), as well as in Germany (Rock im Park, Bizarre, Summerbreeze). In France Within Temptation toured the major cities (Paris, Lyon, Lille, Bordeaux, Toulon) with sold-out venues.
Besides Robert Westerholt (guitar) and Sharon den Adel (singer), Within Temptation consists of: Jeroen van Veen (bass guitar), Martijn Spierenburg (keyboards), Stephen van Haestregt (drums) and Ruud Jolie (guitar).

Evanescence is: Amy Lee John Lecompt Rocky Gray Terry Balsamo
(and formerly) Ben Moody, William Boyd and David Hodges.
Folks new to Evanescence fandom may be surprised to learn that Ben Moody and Amy Lee, the founding members of Evanescence, met at church camp. I interviewed Ben in 1998 and here's how he characterized the meeting:
Several years ago Amy and myself were attending a youth camp. I was playing with the praise and worship group and Amy was a camper. During some kind of break/recreation time I was sitting in the gym watching a basketball game. On the other side of the court was a stage for plays and a piano. I was just sitting there bored to tears when all of the sudden I was given a quick jolt as my ears were filled with the sound of the piano intro to Meatloaf's "I Would Do Anything For Love."
I looked over at the piano and there was this girl effortlessly displaying emmence amounts of talent. After my initial envious rage subsided I hopped to my feet and ran right through the basketball game straight to the piano and introduced myself.
She then impressed me further with songs that she had written. I thought I was in heaven. But then she sang. I nearly died. coming from this tiny little youth camp reject was one of the most powerful, beautiful voicies I'd ever heard. So I somehow convinced her to never play with anyone else again and she's been mine ever since.
Ben and Amy soon began recording songs like "Give Unto Me" and "Understanding" under the name Evanescence. With such influences as Type O Negative, Living Sacrifice (who, rumor has it, once asked Ben to join as guitarist, but he turned them down to continue focusing on Evanescence), Portishead and Sarah McLachlan they began to craft a unique sound that took in elements of metal, electronic music and (probably without intending it) goth rock.
Brad Caviness started to play "Understanding" and "Give Unto Me" on the radio show he co-hosted on KABF in Little Rock, giving Evanescence their first exposure to the world at large.
Their debut EP was released in December of 1998 at their first show (to my knowledge) at Vino's in Little Rock. The run of 100 CDRs sold out quickly that night.
At some point David Hodges joined the band on keys , but I can't give you any details on that because I don't know how that transpired. I can say that those close to the band were in shock, as Ben Moody is a notorious perfectionist who has a hard time finding anyone who he feels comfortable playing music with.
The Whisper EP was released around this time by the band with help from BigWig Enterprises on CDR (limited to 50 copies).
In time the Evanescence live show was rounded out with such members as Will Boyd (the Visitors) John Lecompt (formerly of Mindrage, currently of Kill System) and Rocky Gray (of Soul Embraced, Kill System and Living Sacrifice).
Recently David Hodges has parted ways with the band, hoping to return to his musical roots and start a new band in the Christian market. Rumor has it he and Matt Outlaw are currently writing songs for this project. John Lecompt and Rocky Gray are now considered full-fledged members of the band.
This band, once only know to us lucky few, has taken the world by storm. Their major-label debut Fallen on Wind-Up Records, home to bands such as 12 Stones and Drowning Pool has gone 5x Platinum in the US alone. The overpowering sounds of Evanescence have definently set them apart from any other band in 2003, and have won them many awards to include two grammys! However with all their success, also came lots of disappointments. With the loss of Ben Moody the question on everyone's mind is with 2/3'rds of the original band now gone will Evanescence be able to pump out an even better sophmore album? I guess only time will tell!

NIGHTWISH The idea of Nightwish was "born" in July 1996 at midnight when Tuomas was spending a night with his friends around a campfire. The first three songs, which were acoustic mood music, were recorded between October and December 1996. At that time, the band had three members: Tuomas, Tarja and Emppu.
The band wanted to see what the music would sound like if drums were added (Jukka joined the band). Also at this time, the acoustic guitar was replaced with an electric. After a couple of weeks of training, the band went to the studio this was in April 1997. At that time seven songs were recorded. These songs can be found on the limited edition of the album Angels Fall First. In May 1997, Nightwish signed a recording contract with Spinefarm for two records. That August, the band went to the studio and recorded four new songs. Before the release of Angels Fall First, a single called The Carpenter was released, and made it to number eight on the official singles chart in Finland. Angels Fall First was released in early November and went number 31 on the official album chart in Finland. Nightwish played their first gig in Kitee on the 31st December 1997. After that Nightwish played only seven gigs in the following winter because Jukka and Emppu were in the army and Tarja was busy with her studies. Nightwish and at this time, Spinefarm extended the contract to include three records instead of two.
In April 1998, they started filming the first video, The Carpenter. It was ready in early May and was first played on Jyrki. In late May, Tuomas and Tarja interviewed on that show. In the following summer, the bassist Sami Vänskä joined the band. During the summer, songs for the new record were rehearsed and the band went to the studio in early August; the recordings were finished in late October. On November 13th, Nightwish played a gig in Kitee during which, a video for Sacrament of Wilderness was filmed. That song's single was released on November 26th and the new record called Oceanborn was released on December 7th. Everybody was surprised by the success of Oceanborn. It went up to fifth place on the official Finnish album chart and the single Sacrament of Wilderness was the number one on the singles chart for weeks.
In winter 1999, Nightwish played a lot of gigs all around the country for three months which included a gig on the Lista chart show program. In spring Oceanborn was first released outside of Finland. In May, the band started to play gigs again and toured the country for two and a half months, playing in almost all of the big rock festivals. At the same time the single Sleeping Sun was recorded, which was written for the eclipse in Germany. In August, the single was released in Germany and it also included the songs Walking in the Air, Swanheart, and Angels Fall First. In Germany alone the single sold 15,000 copies in just one month. In August, Nightwish learned that Oceanborn and Sacrament of Wilderness had sold gold. At the same time it was confirmed that Nightwish would be touring Europe for 26 gigs with the German band Rage.
In early 2000 the band entered the studio again for the recording of their third album. A welcome interruption came to the repetitive studio work when they took part in the Finnish qualification for the Eurovision Song Contest with the song Sleepwalker. Nightwish cleared the first round of the qualification, but the final position was second despite an overwhelming win in the public televoting. The new album, Wishmaster, was released in May and the Wishmaster Tour started from Kitee, the home town of the band. After the show, the band received gold discs for the album Oceanborn and the singles Sacrament of Wilderness, Walking in the Air, and Sleeping Sun. Wishmaster went straight to number 1 on the Finnish album charts and stayed in that position for three weeks, during that time, it also reached the gold disc mark. Wishmaster was approved by both the fans and the media and it was named the album of the month by the German magazine Rock Hard in their issue 6/2000, past the long-awaited new releases by Bon Jovi and Iron Maiden. Wishmaster also debuted in the National German Charts at No. 21 and No. 66 in France! The "Wishmaster World Tour", which started from Kitee, continued first to the big festivals in Finland and then to South America in July 2000. The three-week tour in Brazil, Chile, Argentina, Panama and Mexico turned out to be one of the band's greatest experiences so far. This was followed by successful shows at Wacken Open Air, Biebop Metal Fest and the first headliner European tour with Sinergy and Eternal Tears Of Sorrow. In November, Nightwish also played two shows in Montreal, Canada. The next project of Nightwish included the making of a full-length concert DVD & VHS with a limited live album (only for Finland). The concert was performed in Tampere on the 29th of December 2000. The material was released in April 2001 in Finland and worldwide during the summer of 2001. At the end of the show, Nightwish were given platinum discs for "Wishmaster" and gold discs for the single "Deep Silent Complete".
In March 2001 Nightwish entered the studio again to record their version of Gary Moore's classic Over The Hills And Far Away, with 2 new songs and a remake of Angels Fall First's "Astral Romance". The Finnish release for this EP was in June 2001. The German version of "Over The Hills And Far Away" (released by Drakkar) includes 6 live tracks in addition to the 4 unreleased songs. Nightwish has also extended the record deal with Spinefarm Records with one full-length album, which was set to be released in Summer 2002. The video for the track "Over the Hills and Far Away", which had rapidly sold platinum in Finland as a mini-CD, was shot in August 2001 in Finland. The tour in Finland the same year ended in Nivala, and the band was close to disbanding. Tuomas went hiking and gathering his thoughts in Lappland; some changes had to be done in order for Nightwish to be able to continue. According to his own words, Tuomas wanted to end the band due to prolonged disagreements within the band. Luckily, that didn't happen. But something happened, a lot in fact. Sami Vänskä, who had been with them since Oceanborn, had to leave. Marco Hietala, known from Tarot and Sinergy, promised to step in as a replacement for the next album and tour. King Foo Entertainment became their new booking agency, and long-time friend and colleague, Ewo Rytkönen, was to become their manager. To celebrate the "new beginning", the first official shop for fan-products, Nightwish-Shop, was opened on the band's homepage on November 24th 2001, a month before Christmas. The recording of the next album Century Child started in January 2002.
The beginning of 2002 brought Nightwish good news, in comparison to previous rough times. As a band and as individual musicians they were voted to the top on many domestic and foreign magazines reader's polls. The fans had not abandoned them after the changes, on the contrary. Ever Dream, the first single from the forthcoming album, went gold in Finland within 2 days. At the same time Nightwish announced they would take a break as soon as the "Century Child World Tour 2002" would be over, Tarja would finish her educations in Germany during the break. That announcement brought up all kinds of speculations among fans. Sami leaving the previous Fall, now a break that would last a year... Century Child came out in May 2002 and made a sales record, selling gold in Finland within 2 hours! Within two weeks it sold platinum (30,000 copies) and continued selling rapidly. At the same time Nightwish held the top-position in both singles-and album charts, for their first time ever. Foreign countries responded, too: in Germany, Century Child went straight to number 5 and in Austria, number 15, those two being the band's highest positions abroad so far. In July, Nightwish toured successfully in South America, where nearly all gigs sold out. In Brazil, the first edition of Century Child was sold out in one day, and the successful European tour that year didn't go unnoticed by booking agencies. Many European gigs were broadcasted live on the internet, needless to say the connections were often jammed. At its most, nearly 10,000 fans were trying to follow the live feed. Having sold an astonishing 59,000 copies in Finland, Century Child was the country's 2nd best selling album in 2002. The first visit to Sweden took place on 16th November 2002, in Fryshuset, Stockholm. The break started in late 2002, and sure enough there was no rest for the guys. Jukka played with Sethian and Bitch Driven, Tuomas with Sethian, For My Pain..., and Timo Rautiainen & Trio Niskalaukaus, Emppu played with Altaria, and Marco with Tarot. All in all the break wasn't to last nearly a year, back on the road...
The beginning of 2003 saw more good results in reader's polls of various magazines, and a studio was booked in order to start recording the next album, planned to be released the next year. Happenings also at the home-front: Jukka and his girlfriend Satu had a daughter, Luna, on March 11, 2003. Nightwish received their first double-platinum award for Century Child, having sold 60,000. The band performed mostly abroad in 2003, the only gig in Finland was at RMJ 2003 on June 20th. The second visit to Sweden took place at the sold out "Gates of Metal"-festival in Hultsfred. During 2003, the forthcoming DVD-documentary End of Innocence was being put together, and it's release was postponed a few times due to huge amount of material. In May 2003, Tarja Turunen announced that she had secretly gotten married a few months earlier, and would be moving back to Finland. The DVD "End of Innocence" was finally released on October 6th 2003, and at that point, Nightwish had already started recording the next album. Their fifth album "Once" would be the most important release in the history of Nightwish. Meanwhile, Finland's President, Tarja Halonen, had also taken note of Nightwish's achievements and invited Tarja Turunen and her husband Marcelo Cabuli to the annual independence-day party held at the presidential residence. Tarja's dress was voted as the most beautiful dress that evening. Before the Christmas of 2003 Nightwish auctioned their "Century Child World Tour"-backdrop, and donated all the money to charity. The outcome was 1,750 EUR, and was given to Parikanniemi's Children's home in Ristiina on December 2003. The funds were handed out by Tarja Turunen, Michael "Big Tini" Leipold from Germany became the new proud owner of the backdrop.
The year 2004 was eagerly expected by both the fans and the band. Exhausting studio-sessions took their toll both physically and mentally. The actual recording took place at the Phoenix-studios in London, the same studio and with the same orchestra (The Academy of St. Martins in the Field) that Howard Shore used for writing the score for "The Lord of the Rings"-trilogy. Orchestral-and choral arrangements were written by Pip Williams, who has produced "Status Quo"and "riah Heep" Big time, great expectations! Nemo was the first single released off the forthcoming album, and a big-budget video was made. The director was Antti Jokinen, who had previously worked with Shania Twain and Eminem. With the new album, Nightwish had some changes with the recording contract, and the new material was released by Nuclear Blast. Good old Spinefarm Records would still handle the distribution in Finland. Nuclear Blast spent a considerable amount of money marketing Once, especially in Germany. Pictures of Nightwish and Once were splattered all over the television-channels, subways, buses and streets, and the press wasn't forgotten either. Every German will know Nightwish by now. Once went gold in Finland on its day of release, as did the single "Nemo". Nightwish started a world Tour of 150 concerts in all continents, the tour lasted until the end of 2005. This tour was be the biggest in the history of Nightwish so far. The album "Once" sold gold in Finland immediately on its release day, as did the single "Nemo". In May 2004, Nightwish started the Once World Tour. The Once World Tour lasted until the end of October 2005. There were about 130 gigs all over the world, including new countries such as Japan, Australia, Colombia, Ecuador, Poland, Slovenia, Portugal, Denmark, and Greece. The tour was the biggest in Nightwish's history. From month to month the venues grew bigger and the news told about success. The second single, Wish I Had An Angel, was released in Autumn 2004. The song's video was directed by Uwe Boll, director of the movie "Alone In The Dark", in which the song was also played. The second single was again a great success and boosted the sales of the Once album. In August, Nightwish finally made it to the USA! The tour was very successful and they planned to come back for a bigger tour in 2005. After the tours in Europe and South America in the Autumn of 2004, and some separate gigs in December, the band had some time off in January 2005.
In February 2005, Nightwish won five awards in Emma-Gala (Finnish Grammy). Among the others they won awards for "The Band of the Year" and "The Best Selling Album of the Year". Tuomas and Marco flew from European tour to Helsinki to receive the awards. The last show in the European tour was so far the biggest gig of their own, in Stuttgart there were 10,001 people watching the show! In March, Nightwish performed the first time in Japan and Australia; in April and May, they had to have a break because of Tarja's other interests, but at the end of May the band started the tour again by playing with Iron Maiden in Poland and with Mötley Crüe in Norway. In July, the 3rd single, a new version of Sleeping Sun, was released since the record label had decided to use it to promote the forthcoming collection Highest Hopes. The new version of the video for "Sleeping Sun" was directed by Joern Heitmann and shot in August 2005 in Prague. During the Autumn 2005, Nightwish played several shows and performed in the legendary Hammersmith Apollo Venue for sold out seats. After a short festival tour in South America (in October), the Once World Tour was coming to an end. The final concert was played on 21 October for 11,500 people in Hartwall-Arena in Helsinki. The concert was also recorded to be released as an End of an Era live DVD. After the last concert, Tuomas, Emppu, Marco and Jukka fired Tarja Turunen, and her manager Marcelo Cabuli. The reason for this was because during the Once Tour their attitude and actions had turned out to be against almost all that Nightwish represents. As one may guess, the news of the firing was followed by an incredible sensation and hullabaloo. Once the nearly ridiculous fuss was finally starting to calm down in the end of 2005, Nightwish was able to look to the future and wait for an adequate singer to be found. By the end of 2005, "Once" has sold approx. 1,000 000 copies worldwide as well, it has sold triple platinum in Finland, platinum in Germany, and gold in Sweden, Norway, Switzerland, Greece, and Austria. The "Highest Hopes" collection has sold double platinum in Finland and gold in Norway by the end of the year 2005.

NIRVANA Kurt Cobain Biography Kurt Donald Cobain was the leader of Nirvana, the multi-platinum grunge band that redefined the sound of the nineties.
Cobain was born on the 20th of February 1967 in Hoquaim, a small town 140 kilometres south-west of Seattle. His mother was a cocktail waitress and his father was an auto mechanic. Cobain soon moved to nearby Aberdeen, a depressed and dying logging town.
Cobain was for most his childhood a sickly bronchitic child. Matters were made worse when Cobain's parent's divorced when he was seven and by his own account Cobain said he never felt loved or secure again. He became increasingly difficult, anti-social and withdrawn after his parent's divorce. Cobain also said that his parent's traumatic split fueled a lot of the anguish in Nirvana's music.
After his parent's divorce Cobain found himself shuttled back and forth between various relatives and at one stage homeless living under a bridge.
When Cobain was eleven he heard and was captivated by the Britain's Sex Pistols and after their self-destruction Cobain and friend Krist Novoselic continued to listen to the wave of British bands including Joy Division the nihilistic post-punk band that some say Nirvana are directly descended from in form of mood, melody and lyrical quality.
Cobain's artistry and iconoclastic attitude didn't win many friends in high school and sometimes earned him beatings from "jocks" Cobain got even by spray painting "QUEER" on their pick-up trucks. By 1985 Aberdeen was dead and Cobain's next stop was Olympia. Cobain formed and reformed a series of bands before Nirvana came to be in 1986. Nirvana was an uneasy alliance between Cobain, bassist Krist Novoselic and eventually drummer and multi-instrumentalist Dave Grohl
By 1988 Nirvana were doing shows and had demo tapes going around. In 1989 Nirvana recorded their rough-edged first album Bleach for local Seattle independent label Sub-Pop
In Britain Nirvana received a lot of recognition and in 1991 their contract was bought out by Geffen, they signed to the mega-label, the first non-mainstream band to do so. Two and a half years after Nirvana's first C.D. Bleach was released they released Nevermind, a series of different, crunching, screaming songs that along with it's first single Smells Like Teen Spirit would propel Nirvana to mainstream stardom.
Smells Like Teen Spirit became Nirvana's most highly acclaimed and instantly recognizable song. Not many people can decipher it's exact lyrics but Cobain used a seductive hookline to hook the listener. Nevermind went on to sell ten million copies and make a reported $550 million (US) leaving Nirvana overnight millionaires. Cobain was shocked at the reception of his highly personal and passionate music repeatedly telling reporters that none of the band ever, ever expected anything like this. It quickly became obvious that the obsessively sickly and sensitive 24yr old was not going to cope well with the rock'n roll lifestyle. "If there was a rock star 101 course, I'd really have like to take it," Cobain once observed. Cobain fell into heroin in the early 90's, he said he used it as a shield against the rigorous demands of touring and to stop the pain of stomach ulcers or an irritated bowel. Through the touring and pressure Cobain continued to write his very personal acutely focused lyrics.
Cobain was distressed to find out that what he wrote and how it was interpreted could quite often be miles apart. He was appalled when he found out that Polly a heavily ironic anti-rape song had been used as background music in a real gang-rape. He later appealed to fans on the Incesticide liner notes "If any of you don't like gays or women or blacks, please leave us the fuck alone." It was to no avail, Cobain found that as an overnight millionaire musician control was something he had very little of. Cobain also worried that his band had sold-out, that it was attracting the wrong kind of fans (i.e the type that used to beat him up.)
In February 1992 Cobain skipped off to Hawaii to marry the already pregnant Courtney Love. Later in the year Nirvana released Incesticide and in August Cobain had hospital treatment for heroin abuse. Shortly after Frances Bean Cobain was born. In early 1993 In Utero was released into the top spot on the music charts. In Utero was widely acclaimed by the music press and it contains some of Cobain's most passionate work. In Utero was a lot more open than Nirvana's previous albums. Songs like All Apologies and Heart Shaped Box detailed aspects of Cobain's sometimes shaky marriage, other songs like Scentless Apprentice detailed the agonies and struggles of Cobain's experiences.
Nirvana embarked on a support tour and recorded and filmed an "unplugged" (acoustic) performance for MTV in November of 1993. Nirvana's choice to honour bands and people that had influenced them and Cobain's passionate and intense vocals especially on "Where Did You Sleep Last Night?"silenced many of their who had labeled Cobain talentless. Rumors circulated that the MTV Unplugged compilation would be Nirvana's last album and the band were splitting up.
Cobain was a gun fanatic and always had several in his possession or in various forms of confiscation. In the northern winter of 1993-94 Nirvana embarked on an extensive European tour. Twenty concerts into the tour Cobain developed throat problems and their schedule was interrupted while he recovered. While recovering Cobain flew to Rome to join his wife who was also preparing to tour with her own band.
On March the 4th Cobain was rushed to hospital in a coma after an unsuccessful suicide bid in which he washed down about fifty prescription painkillers with champagne. The suicide bid was officially called an accident and was not even made known to close friends and associates. Several days later he returned to Seattle. Cobain's wife, friends and managers convinced Cobain, who was still in deep distress to enter a detox program in L.A. According to a missing person's report filed by his mother Cobain fled after only a few days of the program.
Cobain was cited in the Seattle area with a shotgun. Days later on the 5th of April he barricaded himself into the granny flat behind his mansion, put a shotgun in his mouth and pulled the trigger. On Thursday April the 7th ~ two days after a medical examiner says Cobain shot himself and the day before his body was found police say Courtney Love herself was taken to hospital in L.A. for a drug overdose. Released on bail, Love checked herself into a rehab center but left soon after a friend called her the next day with news of Cobain's death.
Cobain's body was found when an electrician visiting the house to install a security system went round the back of the house when no one answered the front door and peered through windows. He thought he saw a mannequin sprawled on the floor until he noticed a splotch of blood by Cobain's ear. When police broke down the door they found Cobain dead on the floor, a shotgun still pointed at his chin and on a nearby counter a suicide note written in red ink addressed to Love and the couples then 19 month old daughter Frances Bean.
The suicide note ended with the words "I love you, I love you." Two days after Kurt Cobain's body was found about 5,000 people gathered in Seattle for a candlelight vigil. the distraught crowd filled the air with profane chants, burnt their flannel shirts and fought with police. They also listened to a tape made by Cobain's wife in which she read from his suicide note. Several distressed teenagers in the U.S. and Australia killed themselves. The mainstream media was lambasted for it's lack of respect and understanding of youth culture.

Cu contributia basistului Gidget Gein si a claparului Madonna Wayne-Gacy, grupul – numit Marilyn Manson si Spooky Kids, a inceput sa lanseze casete si sa cante in mici concerte, influentele gotice neintarziind sa apara in efectele speciale din spectacole si in machiaj.
Ambele oferte au fost acceptate, primul LP – `Portrait of An American Family` aparand in vara lui 1994.
Cu noul basisit Twiggy Ramirez in locul lui Gein, notorietatea grupului a crescut vizibil, mai ales ca in timpul reprezentatiei din Salt Lake City, Manson a rupt pe scena o carte mormona.
Fondatorul Bisericii lui Satan, Anton Lavey, l-a declarat `Reverend`. In timp ce unii acuzau comportamentul lui Manson ca fiind o manipulare crasa a audientei, tinerii, in special cei proveniti din cultura sub-urbana, au inceput sa aiba o admiratie din ce in ce mai mare pentru rocker.
La putin timp dupa lansarea single-ului `Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This)`, Berkowitz va parasi grupul, fiind inlocuit de chitaristul Zim Zum.
In 1996 apare LP-ul `Antichrist Superstar` - debutand direct pe locul 3 in topurile pop.
`Holy Wood (In the Shadows of the Valley of Death)` a fost lansat la sfarsitul lui 2000.
In decembrie 2001 apare `Tainted Love`pe soundtrack-ul filmului `Not Another Teen Movie`. In mai 2003, discul `The Golden Age of Grotesque` stationeza pe prima pozitie.
La inceputul lunii februarie 2007, apare stirea unui concert Marilyn Manson in Romania, aproape concomitent cu promisiunea unui nou album in primavara aceluiasi an - `Eat Me, Drink Me`.

ROB ZOMBIE For 18 years Rob Zombie has been carving out a strange legacy of music in the world of rock, beginning in 1985 with the formation of his brainchild White Zombie. From the start, White Zombie was a bizarre hybrid of hardcore/punk aggression, Lower East Side art-damage and hard rock thunder. As if that weren't enough, these fixations were filtered through Mr. Zombie's love of classic horror/sci-fi films, trash hot rod culture and generally, all things on the dark side.
Zombie oversaw every aspect of the band's journey from their early independent releases to their major label albums. He created the band's unique visual style, designing everything Zombie: album art, T-shirts, stage shows and music videos. This was a man obsessed. "I never saw it as work; I love doing everything," insists Zombie. "How else can you realize a complete vision" After five independent releases, Zombie's efforts paid off in 1990 when the band signed with Geffen Records.
White Zombie's major label debut, entitled La Sexorcisto: Devil Music Vol. 1, was issued in 1991. The band toured long and hard, playing more than 350 shows and eventually hitting pay dirt: The album spawned a hit single, the Grammy-nominated "Thunder Kiss '65," and went on to sell two million copies.
In 1995, White Zombie returned with Astro-Creep: 2000. The album rose to Billboard's Top Ten and stayed there for two months, remaining firmly in the Top 200 for 89 weeks. Astro-Creep: 2000 gave the world "More Human Than Human," an infectious, Grammy-nominated hit.
Also in 1995, Rob Zombie won an MTV Video Music Award for Best Hard Rock Video for the self-directed clip for "More Human Than Human." Soon thereafter, Astro-Creep: 2000 was certified triple platinum.
Supersexy Swingin' Sounds, a full album of Astro-Creep remixes by some of the hottest mixers in the field, followed quickly on the heels of that success: The disc went platinum.
As the Astro-Creep tour was winding its way around the world, Zombie somehow found time to indulge in a few special projects. First off was a duet with his childhood idol, Alice Cooper, for the soundtrack to the hit TV series "The X-Files." Zombie remarks of the collaboration: "Working with Alice was a dream come true. The song, entitled "The Hands of Death," was nominated for a Grammy Award. It was up against another Zombie offering, "I'm Your Boogieman," from the platinum soundtrack to "The Crow: City of Angeles."
While on tour, Zombie also began working with "Beavis and Butt-head" creator Mike Judge on a key scene for the film "Beavis and Butt-head Do America." Zombie designed the classic hallucination sequence for the film between gigs. "Mike was looking for an idea for a hallucination for Beavis," he recalls. "He wanted something that was like the ultimate rock video. I suggested that Beavis should go to hell, and Mike loved the idea." For many, this scene of Beavis hallucinating was a highlight of the film.
Zombie was then sought out by none other than The King of All Media - Howard Stern. Stern wanted to duet with Zombie on a song for his upcoming movie, "Private Parts." "I've been a big fan of Howard for about 18 years," says Zombie, "so being able to work with him was an honor and a pleasure." The thumping "The Great American Nightmare" resulted; it became a theme song for both Stern and Zombie. "Private Parts," meanwhile hit #1 at the box office, as did the soundtrack, which has been certified platinum.
Zombie next began work on his most ambitious album to date: Hellbilly Deluxe: 13 Tales of Cadaverous Cavorting Inside the Spookshow International. The disc was produced by Scott Humphrey (Metallica, Motley Crue) and Rob Zombie. Work on the album began in August of 1997 and was completed 10 months later. Hellbilly Deluxe (released Aug. 25, 1998) is a wild musical and visual journey through the mad, mad, mad world of Rob Zombie. "This is no small, self-indulgent album filled with whining about deep feelings," Zombie declares. "This is a full-blown evil raging beast - a total Zombie extravaganza."
Hellbilly Deluxe entered the Billboard charts at #5. Soon after Zombie hit the road in support of the album, boasting one of the largest stage shows in rock music, incorporating state-of-the-art lights, sound, video and pyrotechnics.
Over the next year Zombie played to over a million fans worldwide and went on to sell over three million copies of Hellbilly Deluxe, certifying the album triple platinum. The song "Superbeast" also chalked up yet another Grammy nomination for best hard rock performance.
Upon returning home, Zombie released an album of remixes from Hellbilly Deluxe called American Made Music To Strip By. This album includes songs featured in the hit movies The Matrix and End of Days.
Soon after the album's release, Zombie was contacted by comic book and toy mogul, Todd McFarlane to create a Rob Zombie action figure. The action figure has become one of the most successful ever released by the company.
In the summer of 2000, Zombie wrote and recorded a new song called "Scum of the Earth," for the Mission Impossible: 2 soundtrack. The soundtrack has sold over three million copies worldwide.
In 2000, Zombie began working on his writing and directing motion picture debut for the film, "House of 1000 Corpses" for Universal Studios. The film features cult stars such as Academy Award Nominee Karen (Five Easy Pieces, Nashville) Black, Sid (Spider Baby, Shaft) Haig and Michael J. (Bonnie and Clyde) Pollard. Production on the film wrapped in April of 2000, but was soon found by Universal Studios to be "too dark and disturbing under their corporate releasing guidelines."
Three years later, the horror film was released by Lions Gate Entertainment and has instantly become a cult classic. The movie has grossed over 13 million dollars since its release and the numbers continue to grow as does the legion of new Zombie film fans.
On the music front, Zombie quickly entered the studio after filming HIK, to begin work on his follow up album, The Sinister Urge. "Getting back into the recording studio was a welcome relief from the grueling movie schedule," Zombie explains. The record was once again co-produced by Scott Humphrey and boasts an impressive list of guest players including: Ozzy Osbourne, ex-Motley Crue drummer, Tommy Lee, Slayer guitarist Kerry King, DJ Lethal and the Beastie Boys' Mix Master Mike. The album is certified Platinum.
Now in the midst of 2003, Zombie's conquests have reached an all-time high. The DVD for House of 1000 Corpses will be released in August of 2003 along with a line of action figures, Halloween masks, T-shirts and other products based on the film.
Due to the success of the film, Zombie is currently writing the script for House of 1000 Corpses 2 (the sequel) which is set shoot in Spring of 2004 (Zombie will direct the film.)
In addition, Zombie is gearing up for the release of his first horror anthology comic book series entitled "Rob Zombie's Spookshow International", slated to hit stores October 29, 2003 in conjunction with MVCreations and CrossGen Entertainment. Zombie is also collaborating on a graphic novel with Steve (30 Days of Night) Niles for the successful Dark Horse Comic Company.
On the music front, Zombie recently wrote and recorded the song "The Man Without Fear" for the film Dare Devil, as well as the song "ReLoad" for the blockbuster Matrix 2 Reloaded.
September 23, 2003 will be the release of Rob Zombie's first "Best Of" album entitled: "Greatest Hits: Past, Present and Future," which includes a Bonus DVD with 10 music videos directed by Zombie himself. The two disc set (Geffen/UME) was produced by Zombie and features seven Grammy nominated tracks and spans his early days with White Zombie to his successful solo career...also included are soundtrack rarities and two new tracks.

In ce fel vei aprecia asta? Piesa noastra "Tier"(bestie, animal) este despre incest. Sexul intre tata si fiica este ceva ce se intampla doar la animale. "Was macht ein Mann, der zwischen Mensch und Tier nicht unterscheiden kann?"(Ce face un barbat, care nu poate deosebi intre om si animal?) este ceea ce intreb la inceputul piesei. "Er wird zu seinen Tochter gehen... Was tust du, was fuhlst du, was bist du, doch nur ein Tier". Isi scrie o scrisoare ei insasi despre copilaria si tineretea ei. Despre atunci cand tatal ei s-a culcat cu ea. In fapt, ea a devenit animal.
Totul s-a spus deja! Ce aud in muzica germana nu ma strange de c..... Este mereu vorba de iubire tra la la....."
"Singuratatea imi da uneori o doza de creativitate... bei inca un pahar de vin si te simti tot mai rau. Arta nu vine fara durere; arta exista si pentru a rascumpara durerea."
"Cand eram adolescent, eram obsedat sa am multe lucruri fara valoare, masini, haine, lucruri stupide. Acum, ca am toate astea, inteleg si concep ca lucrurile inutile se pot intoarce impotriva ta intr-un mod stupid si idiot. In Germania de Est erau foarte putine lucruri, dar era un sentiment de solidaritate care acum nu mai exista. Suntem acum cu consumul in gat, cu ego-ul afisat, cu individualismul. Acum, inaintea prieteniei, este comertul."
"R-ul rostogolitor nu-mi vine deliberat. Isi are originea in el insusi, in acea adanca intensitate cu care canti automat, in acel fel anume. Nu sunt musician in adevaratul sens al cuvantului. Nu stiu nimic de instrument. Doar sustin muzica noastra cu vocea si versurile mele bine. E o chestiune de ilustratie, timbru si pronuntie. Nu vrem - pentru slava cerului - sa cream un stil fascist!"
VIATA LUI...
S-a nascut pe 4 ianuarie 1963 in Leipzig .
Parintii lui au divortat in 1975, cand avea 12 ani.
A parasit scoala sportiva in 1979. In prezent, inoata in fiecare dimineata cate 2500 de metri.
In 1985, cand avea 22 de ani, s-a nascut prima sa fiica, Nele.
Tatal sau a murit in noiembrie 1992, in coma alcoolica.
In 1993 s-a nascut cea de-a doua fiica, Marie-Louise.
Are o prezenta scenica puternica.
Vorbeste foarte bine engleza si, de obicei, multumeste multimii in limba sa materna.
Lui Till ii plac Chris Isaac, Marilyn Manson, Jean Michel-Jarre, Tangerine Dream, Mike Oldfield, Ministry, Nine Inch Nails, Type O'Negative, Limp Bizkit, Placebo, Black Sabbath, Deep Purple si jazz-ul in parc duminica dupa-amaiza.
Uneori poarta ochelari.
SENSUL LUI...
In 1986 a inceput sa cante la tobe in "First Arsch", cunoscuta si ca "First Art", un joc de cuvinte menit probabil sa distraga atentia autoritatilor.
Piesa numita "Lied von der unruhevollen Jugend"(Song of the Restless Youth) face parte din albumul "Hea Hoa Hoa Hoa Hea Hoa Hea"(1990).

Cine este fan Ennio Morricone in Rammstein?" Richard: "Eu sunt". Till: "Lui ii plac filmele vechi cu cowboy si muzica acestora."
Acea presiune ne-a impins in lupta. Cand scriam piese, oamenii deveneau foarte emotivi cand ceilalti isi schimbau ideile. In plus, nu ne placea directia in care vechiul nostru inginer ducea muzica. Ducea muzica unde voia el sa o duca. L-am concediat si am gasit pe altcineva care lasa sa fie el dus de muzica. Asta este cea mai mare lectie pe care am invatat-o cu acest album: nu poti conduce muzica, tu trebuie sa o urmezi."
"Piesa ta favorita?" "Este "Mutter". Am scris-o ani in urma, fara versuri. Till a scris versurile.
"Nu cred in iad.
"Veti mai canta in America?" "Desigur. Va trebui sa ne intoarcem pentru ca America este ca o a doua iubita... Suntem indragostiti, deci va trebui sa ne intoarcem."
"O a doua iubita!!! Cum se simte prima?" "Prima iubita este Germania si ne stim de mult timp. Se descurca un timp fara noi!"
"Ce lectie din copilaria ta ai putea-o preda copiilor tai?" "Niciodata, niciodata sa nu ranesti un copil."
CUM ESTE RICHARD...
Vorbeste excelent engleza cu un puternic accent american. Richard este mereu imbracat ireprosabil si isi poarta unghiile lacuite.
Cand este intrebat daca crede in Dumnezeu, raspunde: "Nu. Cred in justitia vietii, ca tot ce faci ti se intoarce. Asta este dreptatea si in asta cred eu."
Ii plac Kiss, Black Sabbath, AC/DC, Big Black, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Suicidal Tendencies si Pantera.
S-au mutat in satucul Weisen.
Ei reprezentau capitalismul in cel mai pur sens.
1983 - 16 ani.
Cand am iesit la suprafata am nimerit in mijlocul unei demonstratii politice. Am fost lovit in cap, arestat doar pentru ca m-am nimerit acolo si aruncat in inchisoare 6 zile. Cand am iesit din inchisoare am decis ca cel mai intelept lucru pe care-l puteam face era sa parasesc Germania de Est pentru binele meu. In acele zile nu puteai sa parasesti Germania de Est usor, deci a trebuit sa evadez spre Germania de Vest prin Cehoslovacia. Dupa ce a cazut Zidul Berlinului, in 1990, m-am intors in Est."
In 1991 a fondat trupa "Orgasm Death Gimmick".
In acest an, Richard face prima calatorie in SUA cu Till Lindemann si Oliver Riedel.
Trupa Rammstein s-a nascut in ianuarie 1994.
Primul album, "Herzeleid", a aparut in septembire 1995. In 1996, Rammstein au avut mai mult de 60 de concerte in turneu de-a lungul Europei.
In august 1997 a aparut "Sehnsucht".
Ceremonia nuntii a avut loc in Long Island dupa un ritual iudaic, fiind oficiata de o femeie rabin. Richard a compus muzica pentru ceremonie. In prezent, Richard este divortat.
2001 - 2 aprilie, apare "Mutter".
In septembrie apare "Reise, Reise".

(nush cine a zis )
" Suntem norocosi ca germana e o limba atat de cool pentru o muzica rea. Daca as fi fost englez sau belgian, sigur as fi cantat in germana. In muzica dura, nimic nu trece dincolo de limba germana."
PASIUNI SI CAPRICII
E dorinta noastra.
Cel putin nu in contextul Rammstein. Cu "Stripped" a mers, nu a sunat stupid. Daca Till canta in engleza, trebuie sa fie versuri bune in engleza. Suntem norocosi ca germana e o limba atat de cool pentru o muzica rea. Daca as fi fost englez sau belgian, sigur as fi cantat in germana. In muzica dura, nimic nu trece dincolo de limba germana. Engleza are prea mult suflet si suna prea dragut. O poti deforma. Rammstein incearca sa converteasca imaginea negativa a germanilor in lume intr-o imagine pozitiva. Reichstag-ul a avut si are o imagine negativa. De cand Christo l-a acoperit, il vezi acum diferit. Intr-un mod similar, incercam sa aratam ca Germania are locul ei in lume."
Mancarea este pusa in gura mea.
S-a nascut la 9 decembrie 1964 in Belarus . Are aproximativ 1,76 m si cantareste 80 kg. Vorbeste bine rusa. Fata s-a nascut in perioada 2000-2001. Paul sustine ca ii plac Pantera, Metallica si Sex Pistols. Trupele in care a cantat sunt Feeling B, First Arsch si Die Firma. A lucrat ca fabricant de cazane si mecanic in telecomunicatii. In 1983 a fondat trupa Feeling B cu Christian "Flake" Lorenz. A cantat timp de zece ani in Feeling B si in alte trupe.
Paul Landers s-a alaturat trupei, apoi, in final, Flake. Au urmat albumele "Herzeleid" in 1995, "Sehnsucht" in 1997 si "Mutter" in 2001.
In timpul turneului, Paul a lipsit cateva zile, motivul nefiind cunoscut.
Desi se anunta o pauza mare, pana in 2007, e posibil sa mai concerteze in America de Sud, pentru promovarea lui "Rosenrot".

Guano Apes Biography: The German alt-rock quartet Guano Apes consists of vocalists Sandra Nasic, guitarist Henning Ruemenapp, bassist Stefan Ude and drummer Dennis Poschwatta. Ude, Ruemenapp and Poschwatta had been playing together for awhile and added Nasic in time to win first place in the 1996 "Local Heroes" competition held by VIVA, Germany's music TV channel. The Guano Apes' fusion of metal, pop and rap beat out over 1000 competitors, and their debut single "Open Your Eyes" was a Top 10 hit in Germany that year and stayed in the Top 100 for 30 weeks. Thanks to VIVA's heavy rotation of the video for "Open Your Eyes," Guano Apes signed a deal with Gun Records, who released the group's full-length album Proud Like A God in 1997. The group's second single "Lord of the Boards," which was commissioned for the 1998 European Snowboarding Championship, was an even bigger hit and pushed the album to platinum status in Germany and gold status in other European countries. RCA released Proud Like a God in the US in 1999. Heather Phares, All Music Guide

_______________________________________ black celebration....that's THE MISSION!!!
The four bards have their origins in the small town of Krefeld in Germany. There the band was originally formed in 1985, under the name Lucifer´s Heritage. They have had the same lineup since (talk about friendship!).
Lucifer's Heritage consisted of four skilled bards:
Hansi Kursch, who played the bass; Andre Olbrich, who played the guitar; Markus Siepen, who also played guitar; Thomas Stauch, who played the drums.
This band was obviously influenced by RPG Epic metal and Helloween.
In the early days they recorded two demos: "Symphonies Of Doom" (1985) (wich wasn´t such a big hit), and "Battalions of Fear" (1986) (which was quite successfull).
They were quite successful in German underground and lateron they changed their name to Blind Guardian.
Some months later, they signed a contract with 'No Remorse', and in 1988 they released their debut album "Battallions of Fear" which resembled early Helloween, with the production of Kalle Trapp.
The next year (1989) they released their second album, "Follow The Blind", featuring appearances by formal Helloween-guitarist and present Gamma Ray-vocalist Kai Hansen. He did some guitar-work and some singing on "Valhalla" and "Hall of the King".
Up to this point, there music was still very like Helloween.
With the third album (1990), "Tales from the Twilight World", they made some drastic changes in their music. It made their music known to all other continents. They had gone from raw speed-metal to a sound more melodic. An album that combines epic and melodic metal with such success, creating an unique style of music. The 'speed', however, was still there (just listen to songs like "Goodbye My Friend" or "Welcome To Dying".
This time they had, according to Hansi Kürsch, also spent more time on the lyrics.
This album opened a new chapter in the Guardian story.
For the first time they also had the cover painting done by Andreas Marshall, a veteran in designing covers for popular German metal groups.
After the third album their records were distributed in Japan, which had become a major fan base for Blind Guardian.
In September 1991 the band signed with Virgin (which was - according to many - responsible for the broad success of their next album).
In 1992 they released "Somewhere Far Beyond".
The sound on their fourth album was pretty much the same as the sound on their previous one: it successfully blends epic ballads with metal resolving to a magnificent outcome.
It also has speed songs like the cover "Trial By Fire" and their own song "Journey Through The Dark".
On this album we should remark "The Bard's Song" (originally a single but never got the chance), with two awesome parts: "In The Forest" and "The Hobbit". Every self-respecting Blind Guardian fan should know these by heart.
With the success of this album they got a world-wide recognition.
In 1993 "Tokyo Tales" was out. With this album they followed lots of other bands who chose Tokyo as the location of a live album.
In 1994 they broke up with their formal producer and chose Flemming Rasmussen, the guy behind some of the best Metallica albums.
In 1995 Blind Guardian released two singles, "A Past And Future Secret" and "Bright Eyes" (also known as "Mr. Sandman" in Europe).
It wasn't until the release of their fifth album in 1995, "Imaginations From The Other Side", that their sound altered. It was taken to a higher level of complexity, mixing the old speed-sound with a new, more orchestral sound that would show to be a great success.
In 1996 they released the album "The Forgotten Tales", which featured several covers of known songs (like 'To France', 'Surfing USA', 'Spread Your Wings'), as some re-recorded Blind Guardian songs, and a fantastic live-recording of 'The Bard's Song - In The Forest'.
When the bard's released their sixth full-length album (in 1998), they showed that there is hardly no limit for their musical progress. Taking their music to yet a higher lever of complexity with "Nightfall in Middle Earth" must be one of the greatest events of german metal history. With NIM-E, they told the tale of The Silmarillion, as written by J.J.R. Tolkien.
In 2000 there was the album release "Demons & Wizards", which is not a pure Blind Guardian album.
John Schafer (guitarist of Iced Earth) and Hansi Kursch (vocalist of Blind Guardian) have created an almost perfect heavy metal album. The music is a mix of the two bands with most songs being more close to the Iced Earth style, while the vocal lines are clearly Blind Guardian. The majority of the songs are heavy, with the rhythm guitar of John playing a leading part with some amazing riffs, but you will also find a couple of more melodic songs. This album is the proof that when two geniuses combine their talents they can do miracles. The cover-art is a piece of art, the songs are catchy, heavy and melodic enough, the production is crystal clear (but also heavy) and the album is probably the best metal album of the year.
In late 2001 they released their hit-single 'And Then There Was Silence', which contains the songs And then there was Silence (lasting for a whopping 14 minutes), which is - in short - brilliant, and Harvest of Sorrow (3 minutes) which - to my shame - I haven't heard yet.

Lacrimosa started as a solo project by Tilo Wolff. He was born in Frankfurt (am Main) in Germany on July 10th, 1972. At the age of 12 he wrote his first prosaic lyrics which were published in different literary magazines. He gave his first trumpet concert and later on he played the flügelhorn and the piano. After graduating from school he started working a regular job. In 1989 he published a fan magazine and in 1990 he released his first single (on tape) called "Clamor" which included two songs.
Lacrimosa is from the latin language and means "flowing tears" or "full of tears", being inspired by Mozart's Requiem, one of Tilo's favorite composers. In 1990 he formed his own record company Hall Of Sermon which has later grown to become a major force in the gothic community.
In 1991 the first Lacrimosa album "Angst" was released and the road to underground stardom had begun. For the support tour after the release of Satura Tilo invited Anne Nurmi who was originally from Finland and a member of the gothic band Two Witches. She joined the band on keyboards.
On the "Schakal" single from 1994 Tilo incorporated symphonic orchestration in the music for the very first time. In 1996 Tilo won the "Alternativ Music Award" by Zillo Magazine. In 1999 the band released a new single called "Alleine Zu Zweit" with the participation of the London Symphonic Orchestra.
In 2001 Lacrimosa signed a record deal with Nuclear Blast and released the new album "Fassade".
